DC talking heads on Cowboy's website seemed to be calling out Dak

This “win games in the clutch” wasn’t an issue in Dak’s first 3 seasons really. He was able to do it plenty of times in the first 3 seasons.

It’s been an issue last season And one game so far this season.

is it a slump or just kind of like a statistical anomaly? Or indicative of a more long term trend? That’s the thing I’m not sure about.

I think Dak is fine in the clutch. I know the numbers aren't showing that right now but I trust my evaluations more than I trust numbers.

My problem with Dak is how he plays as a QB. He's got his foot on the breaks for 95% of the game and I want to see him punch the gas.

I expect Atlanta to play like a more traditional team this week and Dak to have a big game on Sunday while all of the "pay Dak 40 million" guys rejoice. It really doesn't matter to me. Dallas should easily win this game and light up their defense.

Go do it against Seattle.

Where does Dak rank among clutch QB's since he came into the NFL. You did a lot of research to make your own argument.

Define 'clutch'.

Is 'clutch' leading Dallas to a 1-2 playoff record in 4 years?

Is 'clutch' leading Dallas to ZERO NFC Championship games?

Is 'clutch' leading Dallas to ZERO Super Bowls?

Is 'clutch' having a 3-16 record when trailing at the half?

Is 'clutch' going 1-6 against playoff teams in 2019 (throwing 8 TD's and 8 INT's against playoff teams yet 22 TD's and 3 INT's against non-playoff teams)?

Is 'clutch' leading Dallas to a 27-22 record from 2017-2020?

Is 'clutch' throwing (2019) 22 TD's and 4 INT's in wins yet throwing 8 TD's and 7 INT's in losses?

Is 'clutch' having a completion % (2019) of 69.8% in wins yet 61.5% in losses?

Is 'clutch' throwing for (2019) 3 TD's and 2 INT's with a completion % of 61.3% in the 4th quarter of games within +/- 7 points?

I am just curious what your definition of 'clutch' means.

Anyone that says the D did their job didn't watch the game. The D was terrible. Not even passable.
Watched the game twice, D was very passable, it the O converted a few 3rd downs it would of helped.

Jesse Holly said , "If you want to get paid like Rogers, Mahomes, Wilson, Brees, ect....then you need to be spectacular on Sundays, not just "well he played ok". Holly said that when there is 45 seconds left on the clock and Rogers gets the ball down 4, the other team is terrified. There is a "belief he will get it done as opposed to a hope he will get it done". You do not have that with Dak.

Nick Eatman basically said Dak is not clutch, he doesnt bring the team back to win games and the stats prove it. In the Cowboys last 8 games decided by one score, the Cowboys are 1-7. Dak getting the ball back with a minuet or two and driving the team down the field for the winning score does not happen and he said he was actually getting concerned about it.

Spags, usually Mr. Sunshine, was surprisingly critical today as well. Mentioned the same 1-7 record and said they just cant win close games. He didnt really single out Dak specifically like the others, but you get what he was saying without actually saying it.

Now do I blame Dak for the loss? No, he played ok but he was not spectacular just like Holly said. Now like Eatman said, the stats do show that Dak does not win close games for whatever reason. Blame it on dropped passes, blame on poor protection, blame it on the refs with bad calls, blame it on whatever but the fact still remains the Cowboys have lost 7 of their last 8 games when the winning margin was within one score. Dak was the QB in all those games, so the question seems legit of "why cant he win close games, especially if you want to be one of the highest paid QBs in the league.

basically true but the loss isnt on Dak but thats how most arguing why he should exceed 35mil are saying that very thing, Das good , sometimes he can play great, but hes inconsistent and not great to a point where he is talked about with the elite..Hes not but yet he and his agent think he is and jerry was smart to want to see more even though it will cost him much more by waiting..if not we get 6years from a solid starting qb and hope to go in new direction..

but Daks not to blame once gain for this loss but also not the reason we won, im sure he like those 2 throw's weve been debating over and over since Sunday back, they were not good throw's especially the 4th and 3 was behind he did not lead th wr and the one to Shukltz fans here keep blaming on shultz, wa snot a good throw..you have to be more accurate in those situations..sure all qbs throw a bad pass have ints and have bad games but the elite have more great moments where they are the reason the team won.. Dak doesnt have enough of those to be considered great..

there are many and i mean MANY starting qbs from week one making under 30mil that played similar games as dak and you can win with that type of QB but not if you have to pay them 40plus now>?

thats big decsion. its on the FO not us to keep debating this but Daks a solid really good startig QB but i dont see GREAT enough and for sure not eilte..

Holley is correct we all see it.. no one a Dak hater because they are being critical..I like dak but would rather have dak for under 35 to be sure we can continue to surround him with better talent..

Agree on MM, I had my doubts, but lets give it the rest of the season. I still find it funny you hire a O mind to upgrade the O but everything stays the same. I know many don't want to hear it but I believe MM is a Jerry yes man too. But lets see where this goes, he may surprise us.

Either way he is better than Garrett. Moore and MM get more than 1 game for me. Early returns are an F in my book.

Flip side to that coin is the "interception" that Goff threw should have been a penalty against us. We were 6 points down at that point with 3 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter. That would have taken them up to around midfield with every chance for at least 3 points. So the rest of the game would have likely played out very differently. We can't just raise one questionable call when another which was even clearer and irrefutable should have gone against us at another big moment.

Agree. But my point was in relation to the ability to make key plays down the stretch of a close game. Im not questioning the quality of the officiating throughout the game. Obviously there were blown calls against both teams game.

Watched the game twice, D was very passable, it the O converted a few 3rd downs it would of helped.

Rams didnt punt until the 3rd quarter. LOL

Amazing how you can be so critical of Dak, yet the D seems to get free pass. sniffs of agenda.

Personally, I critique everyone.

This is a very fair position Catch.

I also think your position of “Dak isn’t worth paying” is a fair one. One I disagree with. But I at least understand the reason for your argument.

The problem with you guys is you fail to understand that 35 million is just the going rate for top 10 QB's. Sadly.

And then there is always the issue of the alternative. Until the Cowboys find a better or equal replacement for cheaper, you go with what you got. Problem is not the QB, its the FO inability to build a legitimate defense.

Well he did drive us down the field at the end of the first half, did he not?

He would have driven us down the field at the end of the second half if Gallup had kept his hands to himself, would he not have?

Wow dude...there are times that make me wonder just what the f you are doing here. At almost every turn...you are either bashing a player or the forum members here.

"if gallop had kept his hands to himself".....you have GOT to be trolling.

Or you are a very miserable empty person trying to make others just like you. You are like the opposite of your name.

You love for off the field reasons and I don't roll like that. How are you in pay Dak club but don't even trust him to win one score games? Whaaaaat? Yeah you guys that like him for off the field reasons can have that. He's just not that good. He plays just good enough to have folks split on him but no better aka he's Alex Smith or Kirk Cousins.
Dak has 15+ games to prove his worth. As of now he is not even worth the tag. We will see. On to Atlanta. Dak has to out play Ryan.

Dak had at least two hits to his helmet that were uncalled. Those would have helped sustain drives as well.
There were two clear holds not called against our o lineman and I saw one not called against their lineman. There would have been others and we could go on all day. The point is complaining against decisions is a loser mentality. We had the ball with two minutes and two timeouts yet were unable to even get within field goal range.

performing when the game is on the line. when you need a drive to get into fieldgoal range to tie or get a TD to go ahead.

So points in the first half don’t count towards a win? I must be confused, I thought the team with the mist accumulated points over 4 quarters of football won the game, are we only counting 4th quarter points now?

Huh, this rule change must have slipped by me.

That's called go time. It's when the big boys go to work. The elite. Pressure is on. If you think the first series with 15 minutes on the clock in the first qtr....has exactly the same weight as the last series with 2 minutes on the clock in the fourth down 3.....then you are nuts.

Well you are but that is beside the point.

And if Dak had led them to a touchdown they would have won the game!

And if I had guessed the correct lottery numbers I would have won the lottery!

And if I had not taken an arrow to the knee I'd be an adventurer!

And if....

And if....

And if....
So you’re saying it’s Daks fault that Cooper drooped a critical pass, Gallup couldn’t keep his hands to himself, and Dalton dropped two critical passes? Do you think those balls would have been magically caught if Dan Marino had thrown them?

I'd agree...he had pressure especially from the backside. But he didn't do anything to help alleviate it. He just stood there.

Maybe so.. but we have let this O-line slip and still talk about them like they are great. Dak's been under duress quite a bit extending back and Zeke hasn't broken a huge gain since Idk when. Been awhile though. Certainly dosen't appear to be Zeke issue to me.

I do not believe we've talked about them being "great" THIS year.
