I know the plays got called back, bit can we just acknowledge that Gallup roasted the highest paid CB in the league? He has a very bright future.

yes Ramsey got beat more then afew times..weve actually had his number the last 3 times once in Jags game..hes beatable one on one.. the rams paid far too much for him, hes still a good CB but dudes a tad overrated as hes not a shut down corner like the Revis or Deions of the world..it was smart to go after him alot of great corners stay great on rep and coaches stay away from them and pick on the other guy..

Wasn't Gallup's arm completely extended?
it was both arm fighting and at times gallup was just tryig to remove Ramseys arm off his it shouldn't have been called as both were arm fighting , you wan to call the play back fine call it offsetting PIs and redo the play but to call that on Gallup take the play away and the down plus yards..no way

There was no extension of the arm. Bad call.
But it's over.
No do-overs.
We had our chances.
We didn't take advantage of them.
0-1
Next up: the Atlanta Falcons.
See photo a couple of posts before this...showing that 100% shows there was. It does not get more obvious.
Now with all the tussling between the two, should they have called it? That's another topic

It looked to me like he had a bend in the elbow up until he started pulling away (or Ramsey pulled up, whichever way you wanna look at it) at which point, his arm straightened, but wasn't pushing off. Just my opinion, of course.

FWIW, from Yahoo Sports

“It was clear as day,” Ramsey said. “If they wouldn’t have called that, I would have been highly upset.”

NFL referee Tony Corrente agreed with Ramsey’s assessment.

“I can tell you it was clear and obvious on the field, of a hand into the opposing player,” Corrente told pool reporter Clarence Hill from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “A full arm extension that created separation. In all situations that would be called. We’re not going to allow that at any time of the game.”
In this still photo, that looks more like Ramsey has Gallup's arm hooked, but still photos rarely show enough to be proof either way.

And I respect that. I see contact by both players. I wouldn't have called a penalty, but regardless of if some want to justify Gallup's arm extension and saying Ramsey was acting, Gallup clearly pushed off. It's kind of like Judo where you can corral and steer someone without grasping.

Again, I wouldn't have called a penalty because both players were making obvious and deliberate contact, but Gallup could have easily swept Ramsey's arm away, instead he kept him at arms length.

um the rules allow for an arm bar as long as theres no push, Ramsey sold the push even though there want one, typical Basketball flop move ie exaggerate the contact to get the call..he got it

There was a clear push off, right before he went for the ball. The "flop" theory is what's exaggerated.

Having seen it again I actually think it was offensive PI the way they call it these days. I don't understand why he extended his arm as he didn't need to - he already had him beat.
exactly ! perfect throw, no need to extend, had him beat !

Looked to me like Ramsey had his arm somewhat hooked under Gallup's, not to the point of being a penalty, but baiting him into thinking he was gonna grab him, so Gallup was trying to stay separated. Just a thought.

Ramsey swept his arm under Gallup who had a hand in his chest first. The video stops right after the initial push and before the Ramsey sell job. And as for the extension, that's in the photo below the video.

One thing to note, to those saying Ramsey isn't holding Gallup's arm, that's simply wrong. He's clearly using his left arm to hold back Gallup, but he's trying to do it in a way he won't get called for a penalty. Ramsey is a great and smart player. He knows all the tricks.

See video above. Ramsey's arm maneuver was in response to Gallup having a hand in his chest to hold him back. The hand-fighting and positioning was fine but you can't push off, which if Gallup had him beat, wasn't necessary. Ramsey wasn't as beat as Gallup liked so he decided he needed the push.

Both players used great technique.
Gallup pushed out WITHOUT full extension and Ramsey locked his arm up causing full extension.
The push was BEFORE the PIC.
This was when Gallup was just trying to get his back lol.

End of day Ramsey caused the full extension and sold it.

Ref made himself the story instead of letting players decide the game.
Play should be reviewable.
It was the entire game.

What he was doing wasn't trying to shed Gallup's arm. He was holding his arm in a way that Gallup wouldn't be able to remove his arm.

Note, I am not suggesting it was an egregiously bad call. If anything it shows how a great CB that is also smart and crafty can make a play without even touching the ball.
