Word coming out today is that the search for the MCU’s next grand villain might be over. Lovecraft Country breakout Jonathan Majors has joined Ant-Man 3, and though the studio would not confirm, it’s looking like he’ll be playing Kang the Conqueror. If you’re not a comics person, your first thought—after “wait, the guy with the brain in his belly?”—is who the heck is Kang the Conqueror? Well, hold on to your butts, because things are about to get real time-trippingly weird. But after that, it’s probably gonna’ get…fantastic.

The MCU may have their next 'Thanos-level' villain, as well as a way to introduce the Fantastic Four.

I'm excited, if for no other reason that to read about future movie plans.

Fantastic Four (finally done right in my opinion) would be another homerun movie experience highlight for me. Maybe it is just me being greedy but I would positively LOVE them working in Annihilus some way, perhaps in a similar fashion as Ultron. Of course, Ultron's direct tie-in within the MCU was The Vision and his Infinity Stone. Probably reaching I guess. Hey. I guy can dream. :D

This is just my opinion, but I would honestly love to see a Fantastic Four based in a 40's or 50's timeline, with an eventual tease of them being 'lost then found' and returned to the present. I think that team's structure and dynamic would work perfectly in that era and there could be an eventual transition into present day. Probably won't happen, but I'd love to see some 'forgotten or lost history' stuff taking place in the MCU. If they can play with time like that, they can quickly introduce (or reintroduce) tons of characters and really expand on the size and scope in a hurry.

I can easily get on board with that premise for two reasons. First, something similar worked extremely well for Captain America in the MCU, although his transition from 'past' to 'present' was already established in the comics.

Secondly, I am somewhat snobbish about it (no surprise I am sure to anyone who have read my thoughts on the matter before) but Reed Richards to me is as brilliant or even slightly more so than Anthony Stark. Reinserting the team and Richards into the present would eliminate any premier 'super-genius' void created by the post-Stark era.

agree about Reid but he is more dismissive and abrasive in a ‘brainy’ way rather than the dry humor and out down of Stark. Would need the right guy to play him

Agree absolutely about the right actor. I was pretty high on Ioan Gruffudd playing Richards but he and Ryan Reynolds, who played Hal Jordan in Green Lantern, had one thing in common. They both looked perfect for the part but they did not fit the part.

...and do not get me started on Miles Teller from the 2015 film.

I have seen John Krasinski's name as a suggestion but he still gives me a Ryan Reynolds type vibe despite his work in Jack Ryan. Justin Theroux from The Leftovers is another name that I think would work well as Reed.

What? MCU might bring in the Fantastic Four. Does Chris Evans double as the Human Torch and Captain America? lol--JK.
haha. Good one! On a serious note, Evans has aged well in front of the camera. However, he would still come off as an 'old' Johnny Storm lol.

How about the guy who plays Captain Pike on Discovery?

I was actually thinking of how they would implement them for people who aren't familiar like myself. It would have to set itself apart from this current Avengers dynamic bc in a sense, they're doing fantastic four "already" by combining all these other super heroes in these Avengers movies, etc. with them playing off of each others strengths...

It would have to be a striking contrast in their dynamics to make it work and that 40s/50s timeline could be the element to give it a separate newness. Growing up I didn't dislike Fantastic Four but also didn't see the appeal when competing with the X Men and other characters in Marvel. Maybe they could be "the real team" showing Avengers how it is done without egos or something on that level. Not that corny but that angle.

There's something about the concept of the Fantastic Four that says 'classic' to me. I'll always remember them as that 'family unit' and they just have that old-school vibe with me.

Anson Mount? I... kinda see him as Reed but maybe a little too stiff and inflexible for the character. It works great for Pike, sort of Picard-ish. I liked that projection of that character, making it slightly 'better' than Jeffrey Hunter's version from the original series.

Picturing Mount as a superhero will always bring me back to him playing Black Bolt in Inhumans. There were several things that did not appeal to me in that show. How Mount played Blackagar was one of my hangups. I should not hold it against him since it is a totally different portrayal than playing Richards but I do.

I watched half of the first episode of Inhumans and that was enough.

My hope is this

Silver surfer is the next grand villain because then it will lead to Galactus arrival To take over as the big bad when Surfer turns on him

but from what I understand its likely Kang the conqueror is the next big villain

Whoever they get for Johnny Storm i want them to be written as the most arrogant, rude, funny and kinda unlikeable hero there is.....

that was severely lacking in the last ff movie

As big of a comic book fan as I am, I have still never bothered to watch that 'film'. I think it's even on Disney+ right now and I have no desire even to watch it for free.

Fantastic four done right, but outside of that I really dont care about the mcu anymore
