The real reason we lost this game

I keep seeing people here blaming Dak. Yes that was a horrible throw at the end of the game, but if you blame him solely for this loss you have an agenda.

The reason we were even in that position is because our young playcaller decided to get pass happy in the last 5 minutes of the game. There should have NEVER been 4 minutes on that clock for Russell to work with. You run that clock down and make them beat you in the 2 minute drill, or keep running and get rid of their timeouts. Something. Passing 3 times 1st and 10 in Seahawk territory was stupid. Reminds me of Garretts early days until he started actually leaning on Murray. There is no excuse.

I thought Kellen Moore called an excellent game, and actually thought Dak played pretty well.
But- and there's no getting around this- as usual there were moments when the game was too big for Dak. He began to throw erratic, short passes that his receivers couldn't handle because they were too high, too hard, or caught them off guard.
But overall, Dak played well.
The interception at the end of the game was simply the culmination of the Seahawks being a much better team. Even before that, Dak had thrown what should have been a game ending interception that ended up being a completion on a fluke batted ball. Even though he got away with it, this is the usual signs of the game being too big for Dak.
He doesn't throw many interceptions, but he tends to get erratic when the pressure is on.
But the Seahawks were much better than the Cowboys across the board for the entire game, and when they were fresh they simply overpowered the Cowboys. The first part of the third quarter really showed how much better they were.

The real issue is the lingering hangover from the weak philosophies of Jason Garrett. The Cowboys play great one minute, then seem to expect the opposing team to just quit.
From the day Garrett took over the offense in 2007, the Cowboys seemed to celebrate their victories after their first score, as if the opposing team would simply quit when they witnessed such greatness.
They no longer do that, but the hangover is still with the organization. They play great, then get burned.
Some of the Cowboys "all-pros" may have to go. They are just too accustomed to not keeping their foot on the gas and playing through the end of the game.
There was no doubt that the Seahawks were the better team all day yesterday, albeit dumb at times.
And if you want to compare apples to apples, Russell Wilson showed what a marquee quarterback should look like.

Three runs instead would have eaten up a lot of the clock. Totally stupid calls IMO.

We have lost 2 games by 1 score, on the road to good teams. We aren't a terrible lost cause, we do not need to tank, we do not need to wrip it up and start again.

We are definitely going to win a very poor division, we have ALL season to work out our deficiencies and be ready for the play offs. We are the team under the least pressure in the whole league.

He called an ok game until the last two drives. Too many screens were called when Seattle had been on top of them all day. Too many handoffs to Ceedee and one of those were in crunch time that I remember.

Plenty of blame to go around. For example special teams essentially gave up 5 points in a 7 point game.

Speaking of play calling, it seemed to me that Zeke was primarily running behind Connor and the Cowboys rarely ran to the right (before Zach was moved to RT anyway). Anyone else notice this or am I off base?

Maybe Dak didn’t lose the game but he didn’t win it the way you would want a $40 million QB to win it either.
Good thing he doesnt want 40 million. Thats already been said multiple times here. Keep up the good work though. What was he supposed to do on that last drive? Block for himself?

What i am saying is. That last drive SHOULDNT HAVE MATTERED. We should have ran the clock down and not been in that situation to begin with.

The reality is even with running, we probably would have left enough time on the clock for Wilson to mount a drive.

And the other issue here is that what makes you believe if we had run it, it would have been successful? Elliott was ineffective yesterday and all running might have done is just put us in a lot of 2nd and 3rd and longs. I have issues with Moore's playcalling yesterday but this is not one of them.

Three runs in Seahawks territory eats up close to two minutes. We got the ball back with two minutes after Wilson scored.

The reality is even running three times, we probably lose that game because anything around a 1;30 to 2 minutes was going to be more than enough time for Wilson against this crap defense.

The reason we lost the game was defense. But that last drive is a bit alarming. With around a minute forty five with all 3 timeouts and we were short on time at the end.

They're going to give us the underneath routes. They want us to take them. We did. At some point in time you have to go a little further down the field on a drive like that. But I can't tell if it was the pressure, play calls, or the quarterback that didn't want to take a chance.

The play on the last drive to Lamb where he stepped out of bounds to stop the clock started an abysmal series of play calls. They had the momentum and Zeke had 2 good runs in that series. Shoulda pounded Zeke up the middle to eat up some clock and keep Seattle off the field. 1st and 10 with 4 minutes left would’ve put the clock down less than 2 minutes before a FG attempt. That’s if they went 3 and out at that point. McCarthey crunch time management strikes again...

You can't win the in the NFL with a 3-0 turnover deficit. That is the number one stat to focus on after the score.

Call me crazy but I'm one of those people who think the defense should be able to stop someone once in a while. Why is it always on the offense to cover for them, then take the heat when they don't score 6 touchdowns?

The play at the end of the game is obvious to anyone who has a clue. If there's more time and/or time outs Dak just throws it away. Under the circumstances he had to force it. Seattle knew that and defended accordingly.

I was floored with the screens.
It's hard enough to run a screen with a cohesive OL with many, many reps in practice.
Trying to do it yesterday with a patchwork line was beyond stupid.
