Will LVE ever get back to his rookie form?

In LVE's first season, he hit the ground running and instantly became recognized as one of the best LBs in the league. Unfortunately, now he has been plagued by injuries, similar to what happened with Sean Lee... The difference being is when Sean Lee was playing, he was an impact player despite the injuries... LVE seems to have regressed a bit.

Do you think he will get back to form?

Right now, I am not thinking he will not. By the time he returns this year, he still needs to get acclimated with the new defense.

Collarbone does not worry me too much. Not much you can do to prevent broken bones. I think the NFL defenses as a whole are terrible. In Dallas throw in another garbage scheme and misses on FA fat boys yeah the LB are going to have a rough time.

I think the biggest obstacle for him is mental moving forward. Unless his revised pads would reroutes forces to constantly put pressure on the collarbone to avoid the neck from taking too much impact.

He knew about the stenosis around draft time IIRC, hence the articles about medical red flags before the draft.
And he played lights out his rookie year.

I think he still has time on his side as far as injuries go. My concern with him is his coverage skills in fact our LB's coverage skills in general. If he can't move his neck to turn around and find the ball and we already know Smith's lack of skill in coverage...we are going to get crucified in the middle of the field as evidenced on Sunday. Their TE was open all day!

He better show the potential soon because we can’t resign him at this point going off of what we have seen.

I bet they slap the 5th year option on him if he shows any signs of his 2018 rookie promise here on out.

Outside of that, I would be wary of giving him any significant guarantees moving forward if he somehow went back to his old form. Or had a defined injury clause in the contract.

I have little to no faith that he will.

I hope I’m wrong. Rookie level LVE would really really help our defense.

Like the kid and hope the best for him but in my honest opinion he's one good hit away from a career ending injury if not worse a life time crippling injury. Neck injuries are no joke.

If i was him I would be thinking hard of coming back at all. Its a shame as he has the passion

No. We have 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4 in next years draft. They better all be defense with two of them being a starting safety and linebacker.

Well, or at least all but 1. I think we need one to be for the oline. Tyron Smith is injured a lot more often lately or we need help on the guard spot. Either way, an olineman would be helpful, and the rest needs to be on D with 2 safeties and a LB.

He got me fired up when he was on the field.I was beginning to believe in defense for the first time in a long time.
With a healthy LVE, the best player on the defense; smart and a playmaker.[
