Will LVE ever get back to his rookie form?

Hold on just a second here. He and jaylon were forced to change positions. They both looked like they were out of place. If you remember in the first Philadelphia game last year, LVE made a couple of big plays before he got hurt. It looked like he was beginning to get back to his old self.
in that game, he had 3 total tackles and 1 TFL and missed 2 tackles. If that is his old self, then I'll pass.

In LVE's first season, he hit the ground running and instantly became recognized as one of the best LBs in the league. Unfortunately, now he has been plagued by injuries, similar to what happened with Sean Lee... The difference being is when Sean Lee was playing, he was an impact player despite the injuries... LVE seems to have regressed a bit.

Do you think he will get back to form?
Great question. Answer unknown.

I don't think he ever plays again and if he does, won't last long because he will play tentatively trying to protect his neck.

He didn't actually hit the ground running, he actually got hurt in camp that slowed his development ..and he didn't start the season as Lee, Jaylon
and Damien Wilson were the LB starters as LVE was the backup ... once Lee got hurt, that's when LVE got his chance in .
and he made game changing plays, until he was head -spun in the crushing Rams playoff game in 2018 ,..

the gap run scheme was dirt under Marinelli ( BTW, whom Pats just roasted his run D for 270 rush yds) and we haven't
physical presence DTs to run interference away from LBs, and that's still up for jury.
and it' didn't help with internal issues with Kris Richard vs LB coach Ben Bloom

i am concerned about these injuries - particularly with these neck and upper body injuries,.. and i am concerned
that LVE (just like and like Jaylon) seems too easily influenced and spun by misdirection and vulnerable to RB screens.

i'm intrigued with his immense length and he has the mobility to play the passing lanes in the middle.
But his lack of durability has been on such a bad streak that it's been hard for him to improve his game.

He played 1/3rd of the defensive snaps in 1 game this season.

He tried to play last season with numbness in 1 arm before eventually going to IR.

Not even Bill Belichick could evaluate a player based on being healthy for 23 snaps...How do you think you are quality to say that he has regressed?

He did not re-injure his neck.

Yes, the collarbone is with 12" of the neck but it's not the same injury.

The collarbone injury might actually have improved his long term career because he gets more time away from the neck injury before returning, especially if they decide to keep him on IR for the season.

Way too early to say imo. The stenosis definitely worries me though. Anyone that knows someone with spinal stenosis knows it no joke. I’m a firefighter and one my best friends had to retire early because of spinal stenosis. It wrecked his life. You guys might not know this, but playing LB in the NFL is a lot more physical than being a firefighter lol. So that worries me compounded with the neck injury he’s already sustained in his young career but I still think it too early to say. He’s got the best medical care available.

Best bet with LVE,..is the same i said with Sean Lee,.. have a damn good Plan B.

have suitable backups that can fill sub "when " LVE does go down.
We'll need at least two Joe Thomas types on hand when LVE has his injury breakdowns.
And unfortunately its looking like this will be norm for LVE's career.

i don't think Cowboys will move on from LVE unless he decides to abruptly retire.
Per Jerry's comments on LVE injuries he thinks his fractured collarbone is a "freak' injury.

i would like to think LVE's injury was part of a NFL surge of rash devastating injuries, but i'm concerned
that it's gonna be more the norm with him.

It’s close enough to the neck to make him cautious. In fact, him trying to protect his neck may be the cause of breaking the collar bone if he tried to change the way he tackles. I don’t think he is ever a viable NFL LBer again.
