Reading Jerry's comments, I can't help but to get the feeling that the majority of these issues were self-inflicted by the players' actions and inaction.

As a fan, I'm very frustrated with this situation.

Sounds more and more like he's a writeoff this year.

I don't get it. He hasn't played in 10 months. Why has this issue not been dealt with ages ago?

Because this team has a long history of stuff like this. Can't explain it, no rationale to to it. It just has been ongoing for years.
I don't even blame Jerry for it. Other than he needs to demand better trainers. Not sure if that is on him or on the coaching staffs.

But ever since Woicek retuned, they seemed to become worse. Now his protege runs it, and seems no change. However it was an issued before Woicek returns as well.
Also need better Doctors too.

I don't get it. He hasn't played in 10 months. Why has this issue not been dealt with ages ago?

In my opinion, these comments cut to the heart of it:

"We are trying to work through some structure issues," Jones continued. "We're trying to work through those relative to -- I'm going to compare this to human activity with COVID. One begets the other. The less activity you can have sometimes in these injuries or in these health issues, the harder it is to get it better, and you can have something else that's preventing you from doing the things you need to do to get better in another part of your body. And that's what's happening here."

I think Collins sat around and did nothing during COVID, which made any pre-existing conditions worse.

And he also clearly declined to remain in the bubble for training camp (hence the car accident).

So I'm pissed at the player who didn't handle his business like a professional should. And now here we are, struggling, while he still collects every penny of his big contract.

The only other possibility is that he hurt his hip (or whatever it is) on his own time and, because of COVID, doctors were not allowed to examine him until much later.

Whatever it is, it's very frustrating

I fully expect the Cowboys to announce Collins underwent hip surgery and will mist the rest of the season at some point in the next few weeks. We all know it is coming. What I do not understand is the Cowboys secrecy.

That would be smart.

But in typical Cowboys fashion they will wait until week 17 to do the surgery and put next years start in jeopardy

Why won't they just tell us what happened? I don't think a team has had any less production from their top cap hits
The only reason I can guess is that his injuries are protected by HIPAA laws because they happened from his car accident.

Teams get a free pass around HIPAA with football-related injuries because they are obligated to disclose those to the NFL and other teams which makes them available to the media as well.

If his injury was caused by his car accident, then the Cowboys would not legally be allowed to discuss or disclose his injuries unless he gave them permission and a player in his position would never do that for fear of limiting possible future contracts should the Cowboys release him at some point.

I'm not sure about that. His first return to actual practice came on Aug 27th, a week AFTER the car crash. So we was obviously in good enough condition then to actually get out on the field. The car accident was referred to as minor as well, so I can't see how it could have caused his hip issue.

Something to do with the car accident maybe, holding information for a lawsuit? Maybe his neck kept him from working out the hip, which got worse? Just throwing stuff against the wall here.

I don't think it's secrecy. Some things are just hard to figure out, even with the best medical equipment and doctors.

From old Jerry’s comments seems like he was out of shape during the COVID period and this in turn begat his hip injury.

Consequently, his hip injury is now problematic to his getting back in shape and may require surgery.

No doubt the COVID protocols and situation has made any rehab and further evaluation problematic as well.

Not sure about him working out fine in the off-season, there were many reports he was simply out of shape.

It's possible he slipped a disc, or did something else spine related in the accident, then practice aggravated it, causing inflammation. Depending on the location, that could easily affect the hip.....or he could have done something to the pelvic joint which was aggravated in practice.

The only thing I can think of at this point is it had to be the car accident. After watching the video he didn't even sound like he was hurt. But then again those guys are used to being in pain.

Wish him the best. Same with Tyron Smith. Hope they get back as soon as possible. Until then, I am enjoying watching Steele and Knight give it their best shot. They might make a mistake here and there but can’t really get mad at them like I would when Smith or Collins make a mistake.

Yeah, I think he mentioned his neck hurt in the video, although it's been a while since I saw it.
