If Dalton balls out, I don’t think Dak will be back. Mainly because of the salary cap and so many holes in the defense.
I think Francis failed him more than Jerry did. Jerry offered a deal worth 35 million a year and 100 million up front. Anyone who tells another person to turn down a 100 million dollar check should be fired. 4 or 5 years on a contract is nothing right now as Dak goes into surgery. I wish Dak would have taken the deal that was offered. Now more than ever I wish he took it cuz he would be taken care of and his mind would be at peace on the financial aspect and he could just focus on recovering.JJ failed this man.
No way in hell. The optics if they to franchise him again would be awful. He either gets his deal or moves on.He’s going to be on a one year deal again. A multi-year means he will be getting a discount.
If he does it will be easy to hate the Cowboys.
Why?Dumb thread, not the time or place.

Dak bet on himself and, unfortunately, just lost. No way the Jones' offer a penny more than their last offer, maybe less.
Jerry surrounded him with all the talent in the world. Offered him a contract in the top 5 range. Dallas has been terrible in one possession games the last year and a half. A lot of that falls on the QB. Top 5 qbs should be above 500 in one possession games.JJ failed this man.
The Dak era is over in Big D.....
Nobody thought Alex Smith’s injury was as severe as it turned out to be right away. Very presumptuous to assume anything at this point.
Another franchise tag would be a win for Dak. That being said I don't think Dak has really lost much as long as the injury doesn't have complications. If the Cowboys don't offer a deal I think he can still get a deal in the neighborhood of $35 million a year, and I think other teams will be more willing to give Dak the shorter deal he was looking to get. Otoh, maybe the injury will make Dak more amicable to a longterm deal.Of course it will hurt Dak. I don't see the cowboys even offering a contract next year, see an incoming franchise tag again. He'll be on another prove it season while Steven is out looking for a replacement.
Dak won’t get the 40 million he was looking for no matter what. We just have to wait to hear if he will be completely healthy for next season. My guess is the contract that he was offered at the deadline. It was a mistake not to sign it.Dak bet on himself he turned down a four year deal worth an estimted 120+ million most of which was garanteed, Dak bet he would not have a serious injury and play well. How many millions did he just loose ? And if Andy Dalton plays well could this be the end of Prescott in Dallas ?
