I like Dalton and I think he will do well. Now that doesn't mean I dislike Dak. Dalton with the WR's and EE he will look better than he did in Cincinnati. He will get the offese stabilized even with this piece together OL.

Run the ball and play action identity.
I agree. Andy has his positives and experience. Glad to have him instead of Cooper Rush as our backup. But, Andy also has his limitations and can become unraveled. He's not that mobile, especially now at his elder age. Opposing d-coordinators know this, so expect them to constantly bring the heat, especially against our current makeshift Oline that has struggled this year. If our Cowboys struggle to get the running game going, Andy will struggle if forced to carry the Offense. He's no Dak. The key will be our Oline. Hope everything works out because the remaining schedule looks pretty tough.

A lesser QB? Dalton has won as many games as Dak this year. He is much cheaper and Dalton possesses traits that Dak will never have. At this point in his career, Dalton will start declining, but during his prime, his numbers were almost identical to Dak’s numbers. Dak has padded his stats with garbage time play, but Dalton has been to the playoffs much more with teams that wasn’t so great talent-wise. How many wins have Dak led this team to this year? If Atlanta had not made a stupid special teams blunder, it would be zero. The best point that will be proven in that there are other QBs that could be just as successful as Dak, if not more so, that don’t demand 40 million a year and they won’t destroy the salary cap by being overpayed.

It's laughable when people call Prescott's numbers as garbage time stats. Somehow most non-hating Prescott fans see those stats as times when Prescott is try his bets to bring back the Cowboys to win. Now if the Cowboys were winning games and ahaead by double digit leads and Prescott was THEN throwing for big yardage THAT would be garbage time stats.

Next Dalton's win came from Gallup making not one but two greatly athletic circus catches which is on par with that on-side kickoff. If you're referring to Dalton as a QB as good or better than Prescott, that is just Prescott hatred coming out. Proof, he signed to be a BACKUP QB and his first statements after signing with the Cowboys was how happy he is to come and be Prescott's BACKUP QB. Now if Dalton and/or his agent thought he was as good or better than Prescott he wouldn't have signed a contract that pays him less than 1/10 of what Prescott makes this season. What Dalton and/or his agent knows just like the Cowboys and most other people is that at this point in his career he IS a BACKUP QB.

Now I will admit that I'd rather the Cowboys had a backup QB with starting experience over a young QB with little or no NFL experience. The Cowboys have a history of doing that with Rodney Peete, Bernie Kosar, Wade Wilson, Jon Kitna and Brad Johnson. What all those QB have something in common with Dalton and that is none of them were brought to Dallas as a possible replacement for their starter, but as a BACKUP QB.

Good luck. Now we'll see if Red Rifle has enough or we'll see why Cincy drafted Burrows?

Doesn't matter what he's got as long as we play defense the way that we have. The only thing Dak could have done differently is not throw the interception, which gave the Giants seven points. However, it's impossible to know if Dalton wouldn't have done the same thing or worse. And with this defense, we just can't afford mistakes, especially against good teams. We could barely afford them against the Giants (and if a couple of calls hadn't gone our way, which we've seen happen before, we wouldn't have been able to afford them in this one).

I'm not one that believes Dak should get a 35m a year contract, but Dalton is not an upgrade. That terrible toss to Cooper should have been a pick 6 if the corner could catch.

You could also tell on one drive they were protecting Dalton by calling screens and runs. Nothing down the middle of the field. The last two passes were nice. But you can tell he was not comfortable.

I realize he was thrown into the fire. So I'll give the guy a chance.
I am not anti Dak, in fact I like Dak as the future of this team. The team record this year may not be any worse with Dalton than Prescott.

Dak has better physical skills. What we don’t know is if Dalton will exhibit better decision making than Dak. Sometimes that is the difference.

Dalton is highly motivated to get another contract so we should see the best version of Dalton by the end of the year. This could be another Philly special season.

I’m all for Dalton winnings super bowl for us, getting a big contract somewhere else and netting us a comp pick in return.

I look forward to you (and others) applying the Dak Standard™ to this "starting caliber" QB.
If Andy had lost or didn't play well, then of course it was the defense, receiver drops or the coaching, correct? Now let's all of us get on board the Dalton train cause we're all fans let's say it out loud, unity, unity, unity.
Don't you feel better.

I'll never understand why crap threads like this don't get locked here.

I don’t understand why people want so badly to “make it stop”. Just because someone has an alternate view than you do is no reason to censor that idea even if you think it’s crazy.

Again, I’m not anti Dak. I think he is the future of this team but I’m not writing off this season. We should win the East. Maybe the defense will improve by the end of the year. Maybe the coaches will lean on the strength of this team.

Who knows. But if this thread somehow offends you, think about developing some thicker skin or avoiding it entirely.

Can't wait to see all the excuses for Dalton from this seemingly lost group of fans.

Dak literally set an NFL record through the first 4 games of the season and you think that's not starting calibre. Seriously, *** is wrong with you?
Andy $3 mill - sumin like that
Dak $31.4 mill
Anything good he does is icing on the cake babee

I don't give a F what the player makes if he's a franchise player. Dak is a franchise player who can make plays others can't. Dalton is a JAG.

Bengal fans are mixed. Some are laughing their butts off. Others say he'll play great. We shall see.

He will play good as always, the problem is great wasn't getting it done for this team....I'm not sure how 1+1 now equals 3.....

Pretty sure you were hating on Dak when he was a 400K QB winning a playoff game in 2018.

Yeah, I love how all of a sudden the reason people don't like Dak is his price tag, as if he wasn't playing at a top level for years on a 4th rounder's rookie contract

Don't disagree, but with them is was all complaints all the time and no compliments ever. There was no objectivity. Money wasn't a factor for them to begin their crusade. Money shouldn't be a factor in holding Dalton to those same impossible standards. They don't get a free pass to become rational over the QB again because the person they hate is no longer taking the snaps.

As far as people just thinking he's garbage, I really have no idea what to say. Take a look around the league. Not a whole lot of talent at QB besides a scant few. College isn't pumping them out like they used to.

I think that one drive was letting him get his feet wet. I’m anxious to see how the game plan looks after they have a week of prep Plus this is the kind of Qb mike is used to coaching

You're probably right. It's just that one pass to Cooper that scared me. Not that the pass was bad, the decision to make that pass was awful. I don't care if you haven't played the game in 10 years, how do you throw that pass? Hopefully that gets cleaned up. Dalton has always been a decent QB. He thinks he's a starting QB in the league and he has more than enough weapons on this team to prove that.
