Just getting some general convo about 1st round defense talent going. Who do you like and why? Who dont you like and why?

There isn't a sure-thing, premium defender (Nick Bosa in 2019, Chase Young in 2020) in this class, especially on the defensive line.

Caleb Farley (CB Virginia Tech) is my "guy" but he has missed games due to injuries and opted out this year, so it's a bit of a projection. I think he's a less polished Patrick Peterson. Daniel Jeremiah keeps comparing him to former Raven Chris McAlister, but I think Farley offers way more speed & athleticism than McAlister ever showed.

Patrick Surtain, Jr. (CB Alabama) is very good but I'm not sure how high his ceiling is.

Micah Parsons (LB Penn State) is probably the best defensive player available. To me, he's a more athletic Luke Kuechly.

I see Gregory Rousseau (Edge Miami) mocked fairly high a lot and while he does have great size, it's a huge projection pick.

I dont think we will be bad enough to get the Bosa/Young caliber guys. I see us at about 4-12/5-11 and about 5th or 6th overall.

Ive seen Patrick Jones and Quincy Roache get mocked high as well. I dont see either being worth that level pick. Even with his lack of production, I like Chaisson better as a prospect than those two. Roache is more intriguing of the two because I think he can play standing or with his hand in the dirt. DL looks kinda meh this year overall.

I like the LB's this year, but will they pick one? I hope they would consider it. Strong year for top flight CB's as well

I think he will go high due to his athleticism and 1 year of production, which was very good. However he is still fairly raw as a rusher and the year off wont help a ton. I do think he will high just because its a fairly mediocre rusher class. I wouldnt hate the pick in the later stages of the top 10, because I do think he has All Pro ability

Sounds like another Taco to me.

I still really like Marvin Wilson. Position of need, and would be good value in the 20s, if he's there.
Reminds me a little of Payne in Washington. Probably wont be a finisher as a pass rusher, but he will move the pocket. If you want a guy that is a 3 down 1T, thats the type you want

Defensive tackle, doesn't really matter who as long as he hasn't been injured, and has had play that has improved through his college games, and is considered a solid player.

Sick of taking the "prospect" or injured or troubled players. Yeah you won't get another Aaron Donald but you have lots less risk than a Gregory, J. Smith, or Charton.

Like they say, it starts up front...

Too add a bit more. I think ceiling/floor comp is JPP and Leonard Floyd. All three of them were raw in terms of pass rush moves, but had alot of natural talent. Id Rousseau's floor is probably better than Floyd and his ceiling is probably high than JPP. Aldon Smith was a similar prospect as well. Id say his ceiling in between JPP and Smiths

I dont think he would slip to 15 like JPP, but Im a little with him in the top 10 (where he will probably go). Id like to be a bit more sure Im getting immediate results with that high a pick

Kind of a meh draft for DT's to be honest. Wilson is going to be your best. After that I don't know that there is a real difference maker

Don't care if he's not a difference maker, if he can stay on the field and provide solid, consistent average play, he'll be just as good as we have now.

We have all mediocre players now, except maybe A. Smith, and he disappeared last night like the rest, so as soon as the DTs rookie contract is up, get another rookie mid round pick, and so on.

This staff wouldn't know a top defensive player if they stumbled over him...

☆Micah Parsons,LB-Penn St...athletic...physical...lot to like.
☆Dylan Moses,LB-Alabama...i like bama LBs...they are sound in fundamentals...and can run.
☆Shaun Wade,CB-Ohio St...i've always liked CBs from Ohio St...they all seem to be just good, solid players.
☆Marvin Wilson,DT-Fsu...he always catches my eye when i watch them.
good v run.
can also get to the QB.
