Andy Dalton Benefiting From Another Week Of Reps

nidwmtt2ukgvibuhx0vh

FRISCO, Texas – No matter how many games you've started in the NFL, every rep counts at the quarterback position.

Andy Dalton began the season as the league's most experienced and accomplished backup. Now that he's filling in for an injured Dak Prescott, Dalton's practice time with the first-team offense is critical – and he's already seeing a difference in his second week with the starters.

"I think definitely," he said Thursday. "I've played, started a ton of games, but (with) a new place, a new system, all of that kind of stuff, the longer that you're in it, another game, I feel like things are a lot more comfortable now than they were last week.

"Not saying that I wasn't comfortable, but that's just how this thing works. FOr me, I've just got to run this offense and run it how it's supposed to be run, push our guys, lead our guys and allow our guys to go make plays."

I'm still in shock how badly he played. Given his tenure in the NFL my expectations were way higher than what I saw. I didn't expect him to set the world on fire but I certainly didn't expect the deer in the headlights player the Cowboys got Monday night. Put your big boy pants on and play like a grown man Dalton!!!

He played how he's been for the last two seasons in Cinci though.

There's a reason that the Bengals went 1-15 last season.

I was highly critical of his play Monday night. However, I think he will find his way this weekend, even against Washington’s impressive DLine.

I said it from the start. When Jerry first brought him in. Dalton sucks. Worst backup you could have brought in.

No question but what Andy Dalton was working against the odds vs. Arizona in that matchup. One lone week of a starter's practice was hardly anything close to enough to get him comfortable behind an OL that was vulnerable no doubt. To compound the problem, the defense is lost and will likely remain that way vs. Washington's capable DL. Let's see if another week to gain more confidence helps his cause.
