Recap: JJT: Whispers from the Star (10/23)

Any type of change has to begin with him ceasing to undermine the coaching staff by being in front of microphones all the time.

He doesnt necessarily have to step down from GM...but it would really help it he quit making it impossible for coaches to command respect in the locker room.

For the life of me I cant see how he cant see how his demand for the spotlight ruins any chance this team could ever have.
The things is: he sees himself as the architect of 3 Superbowls and he can do it again.
And even if he looks in the mirror some mornings and admits otherwise, he tells himself he's spent millions upon millions on his pet and dangit, he's going to lead it by the leash!

See, the thing is the GM.
The coach can want to bench and cut all sorts of things, but you gots the guy over him in both the GM and Owner dictating things.
You notice how Jerry mentioned how much of the salary cap is playing?
That means a lot to him and he's the Boss. He dictates.

Coach has mandates.
That’s correct, but that’s why I state it as “Let’s see”.

Its gotta get REALLY bad before anything at all changes, and I'm torn as to what to root for.

He already has all the excuses lined up for this year.

Fact is, if you put back all the injured players this defense is still legendarily bad.

They will use COVID for that one.....no time to implement the system.

Ok sure....same crap next year when people are discussing how to salvage a title in a division that'll be on the worst run in league history.

Maybe get a home playoff game, then we are THAT close.

Add another "great draft" and we will be on our way.

Signed, Sealed Delivered...

Next!

I mean what did ya expect, genuine change? lol

Yep.

He's ahhhrned that rahht.

I was pushing for Meyer or any demanding HC. Not because i think demanding coaches are the only way to go. There's another problem we all know of, it's Jerry Jones. Doing all or any of this Jerry's way doesn't work, the history is there for anyone to look at. Everyone knows this, but somehow at somepoint during every off season we all seem to think there is hope this time. We all knew this before the HC hiring process began and Jerry went in a straight line directly towards McCarthy, this was more proof that this org is backwards at heart.

On one level or another this kind of thing keeps repeating itself, it's Jerry's way of doing things. When @JoeKing made his 0-3 thread people lost it like good little Jerry puppets.

It's over, there will be no SB wins while Jerry has control of anything Dallas Cowboys related. All anyone can do is just wait, but don't forget the lessons you learned and don't let any kind of hype about the Cowboys get you excited unless it's Jerry not working anymore which won't happen.

We Cowboy fans have been shafted and it's not over, and no one knows when it will end. It won't end with new coaches or players.

all we need to know is no changes are coming and we are headed for possibly a top 5 pick. this is slowly pushing me to stop watching the games

The mere fact the Cowboys are keeping Nolan because of nepotism makes me sick.

They are on pace to be the worst defense in the history of football. Never mind the 36-plus points allowed per game; they also have two takeaways in six games. T-w-o. And one was a Chido pick way back in week one.

This team hasn't had a defense worth a crap since 2009 and even that unit was simply "good". The Cowboys wasted Romo, they're wasting Dak assuming he's here long term; and let's face it, Andy Dalton has no shot behind the depleted o-line now anyway.

At least with Prescott the Cowboys could make games interesting; now they're probably all gonna be over by the mid-second quarter.

Great Stuff!

Brandon Carr?

Re. Mike Nolan, think we need to view him an McCarthy as a pair, when one goes they both go. Listening to Jerry today he's really got McCarthy's back. I'm pleased to see this

I think Jerry has Jerry’s back. He would look like an even bigger fool to say he made yet another coaching mistake after Ginger. If it’s possible for him to look like a bigger fool.

Although I recognize the typo, there's irony in your post that is all too true.

2. Don't be surprised if one of two things happen. One - we are going to be seeing a lot of the younger guys. This staff and FO need to know what they have. Two - don't be shocked if we start moving some people, as our cap situation is only getting worse in 2021 with aging players and a QB due for a mega payday. JJT was particularly critical of our interior DL, like almost all of us have been for YEARS. Dontari Poe and Ty Crawford, specifically. Says they're really good dudes, but you don't get a starting spot in the NFL because you're a good dude. You have to play. Poe played 30 snaps against Arizona, in a game where they rushed 35 times for 200 plus yards, not a single tackle. Crawford. Similar results. The snaps he played, in a run dominated game, no tackles or assists or anything of substance. Just a taunting penalty after they were gashed to go down 14-0. The Cowboys spent heavily in FA on age, and these are the results you get. Some of these players are oft-injured and simply can't play the same way they used to. It's becoming more apparent every week. Poe getting moved two yards off the ball before the play even develops. Something's gotta give.

Unfortunately, no one would take Poe or Crawford off our hands.

We own Poe for next year, so keep playing him some in hope of resurrecting him. Only play Crawford to keep other guys fresh.

Maybe give Crawford enough snaps in hope he can resurrect himself enough to get us a comp pick?

Woods, Gallimore, and Hamilton are all back. We should be on the hunt for a PS DT elsewhere to bring on board. Churn that spot for the rest of the year in hopes of finding a guy we like.

Adios to BOTH of them.

And the sooner the better.

Griffin has been a total disappointment. A lot of fans wanted him, but I understand why he was unsigned for so long. Other teams knew something that a Dallas didn’t.

I advocated for Clowney for a reason, Clowney is younger, more explosive and actually has experience playing BOTH 4-3 and 3-4.

Another stupid signing.
