The problem is we have seen this before. They retool with new players and maybe even a new QB. Then they have a 13-3 season, go one and done in the playoffs and think they are one player away. But Jerry would have put them in CAP jail by overpaying his players, they lose good players to free agency and from that 13-3 season they will slowly slip to 10-6, 9-7, 8-8 and then misery again. Repeat.

He’s right. The current window is closed. There are no quick fixes.

They’re gonna have to retool like the Saints did with Brees, Seahawks with Russ, Steelers with Ben. Move on from overpaid underproducing players like Zeke and Jaylon. Draft well. And hopefully you’re a contender in 3-4 years.

The three teams/QBs you mentioned have all actually won a SB in their windows.

The Cowboys haven't had a window since the 1990s. What we've had since are imaginary windows without a sniff of a SB.

It's unrealistic to set a given time for a rebuild to occur. It takes whatever the ownership and management is willing to invest to accomplish whatever the level of success that's desired. Of course, I'm referring to both as if they are separate entities, however, the Cowboys are limited to one man doing both. That's the main stumbling block where they are concerned. The Cowboys have a very unique setup.

Since Jerry is both owner and GM, it's apparently the owner who seems to take precedence. When it comes to spending, ownership tends toward being frugal. It's normally the GM who spends according to providing the team's needs. Jerry tends to favor being the owner more than the GM. Of course, that's just one man's opinion. I'd venture to say it takes whatever amount of time is necessary to reach the desired level of success.

I like Jesse but that statement makes no sense. No team in this NFL era plans for a 4 year rebuild. No credible source within the organization who is making real decisions would make such a statement.
Well, other teams dont ignore free agency (the second contract guys....not the one on last legs looking for a final check) as a means to acquire players.

Dallas relies on the draft only, and regardless of what they want to tell themselves, they get one or two contributors a year.

So four years may be a bit light considering by then you'll need to replace guys that are now ok.

Basically, they need to turn over 95% of the roster.

This is an unlikable, uncommitted, and untalented roster of players who simply don't really care or aren't good enough to matter.

And it's run by a family that should be selling pigs in Arkansas.

I can't remember a Cowboys team I've thought less of.
Selling pigs in Arkansas....

I think a team would have to purposely lose to us.

We can't protect the QB at all.. Like at all.

We also can't play defense at all.. Like at all.

You throw in a 7th round rookie QB and thats a recipe to not win another game the rest of the year which is the best thing that could happen to this team.

And I can't disagree. But somehow, just when we are about to lose a game. We will get a bounce or call our way, that will cause us to win, and drop in draft position. That is how bad the luck is. :lmao2:

Listen.. You guys and your straw man arguments..

Dak is a good player.

He's not overcoming all of this while getting paid like he is Patrick Mahomes.. Got it?

He's good but he's not good enough for the money he wants. Paying him is a 1 way ticket to mediocreville and you guys will applaud it while it happens and then cry about everything around him not being enough.
You're late catch. We've been in mediocreville for 22 years and counting. I'd rather rename the village to
22 IrrelevantVille Lane. Dallas Texas.

Oh and its gonna get worse.

I promise you that.

That Gilbert guy will be in there before the bye....and before the year is over, Bell will be taking some snaps at QB.

We can only hope that happens on national TV when they alternate shots up to the Jerry booth between snaps.

....why not?.....we have to go back to the 90's to reflect on sustained/consistent success.

That's your opinion based on your belief that Dak is not a good QB. But you need to focus on the real problem, the overpaid, underperforming players of defense. The reason for our current problems is that Jerry and company refuse to admit their mistakes in paying Lawrence, Jaylon and Crawford and keeping Gregory and Lee around. He also doesn't want to admit that Chido and Lewis are busts and that Woods is far from being an NFL caliber player. None of this has nothing to do with Dak.

The Cowboys have been lucky to have found their star QB's in other than a top 5 pick in the draft. They have never picked a QB in the top of the draft, (other than Aikman), ever. What makes you think they will this time? If it came to that, I guarantee you they would pick the wrong one.

Unfortunately, I think with this OL our rookie actually improves our chances at winning.
