Something is not right about this article. Cooper is guaranteed $40 million. That's his $10 million salary in 2020, his $10 million signing bonus and his $20 million 2021 salary, all guaranteed. If the Cowboys trade him in 2020 I believe they have the option to take the full cap impact of $40 million this year, but they only have $28 million in CAP room right now. If they cut Poe and Worley they have to take another roughly $5 million cap hit. There is no save of Cooper's $20 million 2021 salary because his salary is guaranteed.
Sure there is. Trading him includes trading his contract. His salary guarantee would be assumed by the team acquiring him, not the Cowboys. The Cowboys would be on the hook for the remaining unamortized signing bonus, which is $8M after this season.
