I didn't know there was such a thing as alternate presenters. What's that for? In case your presenter gets injured?

The fact jimmy is not in the roh suggests jerry just went thru the standard protocol speeches. Jimmy will probably do the same. Only troy is most likely to be effusive in his praise of jimmy with no mention of jerry.

Oh, I'm not expecting effusive praise. That would be more shocking than an omission. I'm expecting a brief mention as he chronicles his assent in Dallas.

But don't forget, Jerry got in as an owner not a GM. He could have just talked about the Nike deal and the TV contracts and how he revolutionized the business of the NFL and grew it. He didn't have to talk about football at all.

Its his team, unfortunately he can do whatever he wants to do with it. Jimmy was great but he's been gone for over 25 years. I'm sure Aikman, Irvin, Emmitt and the rest couldn't have won without jimmy.
The picks and players they got for Walker and trading for Haley had nothing to do with it. And yes, I know, Jimmy probably orchestrated those trades, but Jerry signed the checks. Therefore, like I said before, he couldn't have done it without Jerry's money.
By the way, no cap back then. So Jerry spent as much as he wanted.
And I agree with you, he couldn't overcome an aging Marino, so talent does matters.

Talent absolutely matters. Agreed. But the trick isn't in finding the money to pay for players. The trick is figuring out which players to pay. Jerry didn't do that while Jimmy was around...........and thank god for that or we would have never won anything. But, no coach can win without talent. Jimmy was the same guy in 1989 when his team went 1-15 and 1992 when he won a super bowl. Belechek is proving the point right now. Even he can't win without talent.

There isn't a single HC in the NFL HOF that didn't get there with someone else's money. Jimmy is no different in that regard. Sure Jerry spent a lot of money but mostly it was on his own players. You mention the era before the cap, but there was no free agency either. You couldn't just go out and remake your team in an offseason like you can now. So, sure, back in 1989, you could add a piece here and there (Charles haley) but building a team was still mostly a slow process and via the draft. The Walker trade and the bounty of draft picks sped up our timeline.

What an insult that Jerry Jones was inducted into the NFL HoF before Jimmy Johnson.

Jerry never understood why jimmy disrespect his opinion on football.
Jimmy was very touchy about Jerry claiming credit for player selections .
When jimmy disrespected Jerry in front of some royal VIP guests in the dressings room and at the NFL meeting , and started negotiating with the expansion Jacksonville Jaguars , Jerry had to work out a divorce . Jerry won one with Switzer but it has been 26 years since . Jimmy could not find success without Jerry at Miami .the last season was actually embarrassing.(Which is a blemish on his coaching record ) Jimmy was not successful at a Oklahoma state vs OU and Switzer either . Every coach needs talent to win a championship. The Jerry jimmy relationship was so magical while it lasted . They should both have been more tolerant of each other . Ego is a terrible thing .

Actually, when Jerry and Jimmy took over, Jones was deep in debt; having mortgaged everything he had just to buy the team.
Jimmy was in deeper debt having to have Jerry pre-pay him so he could survive his divorce.

Wasn't just money. Jerry was his college teammate and gave him more control than any owner would have out of the gate.

The irony is the pick Jerry and Bob Ackles FORCED on Jimmy was Troy Aikman... the guy Jimmy chose to present him.
Jimmy preferred Steve Walsh by a very large margin.

The triplets:
Mike was already here
Troy was forced on him.
Emmitt was drafted after he failed to get the LB's he targeted and traded down twice before Joe Brodsky stood on a tale screaming for Emmitt.

Lol you know Jerry wasn't even considered.

I've wondered for years if Jimmy will even thank or acknowledge Jerry in his induction speech.
He should - at least for the opportunity. And I think he will. Without Jerry he wouldn't be in the Pro Football HOF.

He still had to have the assets to mortgage. Ultimately both guys needed each other.

i'm expecting effusive praise from aikman regarding jimmy. troy's been in front of the camera for a lot of years now and knows how to look good when he wants to. he had no problems saying last year dak wasn't accurate and accuracy couldn't be taught. and he missed no opportunity to publicly state the cowboys could never win the big one with jerry at the helm. he likes jimmy. he detests jerry. no greater sleight than to just not mention jerry.

jimmy accomplished a lot in a little time as an nfl hc. i'm sure the length of his career had a lot to do with his lack of induction in the early stages following his retirement.

Aikman has no reason to mention Jerry. Jimmy will be expected to say something.

Aikman is spot on in his criticisms. Dak isn't accurate. He has great WRs catching balls thrown high or behind them. Occasionally he'll drop a dime, but its not the norm. Put Dak on Philly with those wrs and see what happens.......and Jerry hasn't won the big one at the helm and doesn't look any closer at the moment.

aikman mentioned jerry a lot last year. all negative. i really don't care. imo, jimmy's the best coach the cowboys ever had and that includes landry. he deserves to be in the hof.

Jerry deserves every bit of criticism he gets. Aikman has his opinions and I agree with most all of them.
