I didn't know there was such a thing as alternate presenters. What's that for? In case your presenter gets injured?
The fact jimmy is not in the roh suggests jerry just went thru the standard protocol speeches. Jimmy will probably do the same. Only troy is most likely to be effusive in his praise of jimmy with no mention of jerry.
Its his team, unfortunately he can do whatever he wants to do with it. Jimmy was great but he's been gone for over 25 years. I'm sure Aikman, Irvin, Emmitt and the rest couldn't have won without jimmy.
The picks and players they got for Walker and trading for Haley had nothing to do with it. And yes, I know, Jimmy probably orchestrated those trades, but Jerry signed the checks. Therefore, like I said before, he couldn't have done it without Jerry's money.
By the way, no cap back then. So Jerry spent as much as he wanted.
And I agree with you, he couldn't overcome an aging Marino, so talent does matters.
I guess he can't bury the hatchet in Jerry, SMH
So we agree, he couldn't have done it without Jerry's money.Talent absolutely matters. Agreed. But the trick isn't in finding the money to pay for players. The trick is figuring out which players to pay. Jerry didn't do that while Jimmy was around...........and thank god for that or we would have never won anything. But, no coach can win without talent. Jimmy was the same guy in 1989 when his team went 1-15 and 1992 when he won a super bowl. Belechek is proving the point right now. Even he can't win without talent.
There isn't a single HC in the NFL HOF that didn't get there with someone else's money. Jimmy is no different in that regard. Sure Jerry spent a lot of money but mostly it was on his own players. You mention the era before the cap, but there was no free agency either. You couldn't just go out and remake your team in an offseason like you can now. So, sure, back in 1989, you could add a piece here and there (Charles haley) but building a team was still mostly a slow process and via the draft. The Walker trade and the bounty of draft picks sped up our timeline.
Jimmy was in deeper debt having to have Jerry pre-pay him so he could survive his divorce.Actually, when Jerry and Jimmy took over, Jones was deep in debt; having mortgaged everything he had just to buy the team.
Wasn't just money. Jerry was his college teammate and gave him more control than any owner would have out of the gate.So we agree, he couldn't have done it without Jerry's money.
Agree....Strahan and Glazer as alternates?? Seriously?? smdh I would never want someone from one of our enemy teams to present me!! Especially knowing "gap tooth" is a Cowboys hater.uh, whats up with the Fox guys?? lord.
How about any of his former asst coaches??
I love the Aikman choice but he too is a Fox broadcaster....
Why not Emmitt or Irvin?
He should - at least for the opportunity. And I think he will. Without Jerry he wouldn't be in the Pro Football HOF.Lol you know Jerry wasn't even considered.
I've wondered for years if Jimmy will even thank or acknowledge Jerry in his induction speech.
Jerry would be nothing without Jimmy’s Superbowls.
He still had to have the assets to mortgage. Ultimately both guys needed each other.Actually, when Jerry and Jimmy took over, Jones was deep in debt; having mortgaged everything he had just to buy the team.
i'm expecting effusive praise from aikman regarding jimmy. troy's been in front of the camera for a lot of years now and knows how to look good when he wants to. he had no problems saying last year dak wasn't accurate and accuracy couldn't be taught. and he missed no opportunity to publicly state the cowboys could never win the big one with jerry at the helm. he likes jimmy. he detests jerry. no greater sleight than to just not mention jerry.Oh, I'm not expecting effusive praise. That would be more shocking than an omission. I'm expecting a brief mention as he chronicles his assent in Dallas.
But don't forget, Jerry got in as an owner not a GM. He could have just talked about the Nike deal and the TV contracts and how he revolutionized the business of the NFL and grew it. He didn't have to talk about football at all.
jimmy accomplished a lot in a little time as an nfl hc. i'm sure the length of his career had a lot to do with his lack of induction in the early stages following his retirement. What an insult that Jerry Jones was inducted into the NFL HoF before Jimmy Johnson.

aikman mentioned jerry a lot last year. all negative. i really don't care. imo, jimmy's the best coach the cowboys ever had and that includes landry. he deserves to be in the hof.Aikman has no reason to mention Jerry. Jimmy will be expected to say something.
Aikman is spot on in his criticisms. Dak isn't accurate. He has great WRs catching balls thrown high or behind them. Occasionally he'll drop a dime, but its not the norm. Put Dak on Philly with those wrs and see what happens.......and Jerry hasn't won the big one at the helm and doesn't look any closer at the moment.
