Why do people keep insisting on calling Zeke fat?

Fans need someone to blame. He held out and got a big payday. He plays a position most fans vilify because they think all situations are the same, thus when a RB is cut for salary purposes and dwindling results, all RB's have the same issues. Further, most fans here ignore the truth about an offensive line that cannot protect the QB, but believe the RB should overcome. They point to Pollard and his random success, yet ignore that Zeke still blasts through holes and moves the pile forward.

Fix the line so the passing game will work again. Bring back Dak after he heals. Zeke's issues - in the mind's of the fans here - will be corrected.

I agree but how many guys could perform well at RB in an optimal environment?

Same at QB.

We need some guys that can overcome some things when all is not going well.

Our players just take what the game gives them.

Unfortunately for your desires on this subject, Superman is a comic book character.

All teams take what the defense will give them.

Simple math...what was his playing BMI at Ohio and whats his BMI now?

You do know that BMI is just weight divided by height squared right? So a guy who is 6' 180 pounds but out of shape with 15-20% body fat will have a lower BMI than a guy who is 6' 220 pounds but carrying only 5% body fat. The charts will call one guy "normal" and the other guy "obese." Guess which is which..

I disagree..

Aaron Rodgers takes.

Pat Mahomes takes.

Russell Wilson takes.

2016 Cowboys Oline and Zeke used to take.

The guy parades around with his shirt up displaying his impressive six pack during warmups before every game .. How people conveniently unsee that and keep claiming he's fat, out of shape, yadda yadda yadda is just another illustration of just how blind their hatred is for this guy.
..I never got that either. Zeke is just fully formed from abdomen section to chest area. He's not slender build, like most players.

Look you sound like you are 10 glasses deep on the Cowboys Kool Aid. Zeke was supposed to be a star and lead the team to playoff glory. His game has slipped and this is one of the worst teams in the league. How can you not see one of the “superstars” taking the blame?

Fine blame him for his performance falling off.. Even discuss the reasons for it and what the team can do about it.. But miss me with all the puerile name calling and caricatures. I come to this board to talk football not help guys polish their standup routines.

I dont like him personally at all, but the guy is simply on the same expected declining pace as every other star RB.

Jerry gave him basically four guaranteed years.

Not only did they give him the highest AAV at the position, but structured it so he basically couldn't be cut before the end of 2022.

Guess that's what happens when you negotiate through the media and adopt the strategy of....guess we will start with Gurleys deal and go from there. Then expect a discount just because. Sound familiar?

This team is so poorly managed its beyond a joke.

I think maybe because he seems to have lost his burst and takes himself out after 2-3 running plays. He's sure different than the old school RB's from past Cowboys teams.

Yeah we need a running back who can run for 1500 yards and 15 TDs with no blocking and no passing game like.... well nobody.. cause nobody has ever done it..
And we need a QB who can overcome a defense that gives up 36 points per game like.... well.. same guy.. nobody.

What are you blathering on about? Where did I call you a name? You asked why people were hard on Zeke. I gave you my extremely high end intelligent opinion. Why are you all butt hurt about that?

LMAO! Good one.. I didn't asky why people are hard on him.. I KNOW that.. I asked why they insist on calling him fat despite the visual evidence to the contrary staring them square in the face. That just seems childish to me.

All RBs take plays off to get a breath. Some RBs don't even play all 4 downs.

If half the RBs in the NFL played behind that OL of Steele, McGovern, Knight, etc - they would never get back to the line of scrimmage, much less break long runs.
And Zeke has been nursing a hamstring strain as well. So let's not turn him into a sloth at this point of the season.

Oh damn not one of the dreaded soft tissue injuries.. If that's true we might not seen any semblance of peak Zeke the rest of this year.. Blocking or no.

Couple of off-seasons ago, Zeke chose to concentrate on STRENGTH. I said at the time that this was a mistake. He should have concentrated on agility and speed as he was already plenty strong enough. Well, he is CLEARLY stronger now; but he is slower and less agile. To be fair, "slower and less agile" for Zeke is still faster and more agile than most of the human population of Earth. But I still contend that he focused on the wrong areas.

"I wouldn't go so far as to call the brother fat, I mean he got a weight problem. What's Zeke gonna do? He's Samoan."

Could be but it's gone to a different level this year. Running the ball takes energy.. A LOT of it. Pulling away from 300 pound men grasping at you requires a massive amount of effort so I don't question the need for a blow from time to time. Still "the previous two seasons" might be a stretch. He led the NFL in rushing two seasons ago and was 4th last year despite having no training camp. Totally his fault for holding out but no less a reality. This year is different.. It's like he need oxygen every 10th snap or so. That aint normal.. Like you say it could just be conditioning.. Frankly I would chalk a lot of it up to the stupid shotgun run scheme. He's not built for it and it does not suit his style of running. If we are not going to be a power running team then we don't need a power running back. Get a 195 pound scatback and pair him with Pollard.
Honestly, to me it seems like he's taking breaks less this season, not more. Of course, we haven't been running it all that much either.
