The 2014 team was the absolute best team we’ve had since our last sb championship. Ask yourself, who was better? 2007, Romo was too young, Rookie Dak and Zeke had potential but not quite there.

Romo at his very best all season.
Dez was a monster all year
Demarco Murray wasn’t 2016 Zeke but he was clutch and was a first down machine.
Witten was still catching 60+ balls and 700+ yards

Just look at our offensive line, dear lord how did this team not win a sb.. We had 3 1st team all pros on the line.

The defense didn’t have any amazing players but that year they played as a unit more than I’ve seen in a long time. They complimented the offense as best they could.

B. Carter
R. McClain
Church
Carr
Hitchens
Wilcox
Scandrick when he made plays

A bunch of guys playing at a high enough level to compliment a championship offense.

And now we have to watch a rebuild and our leader out for the season.. this season is the biggest reality check. We had 4 chances to win a sb since 1995 and none hurt more than 2014.

hope it turns around for us.

You could argue that Hitchens call vs. Detroit shoulda knocked us out but it is unfortunate we couldn’t win with that core. Woulda made Tony a first ballot HOFer. I think if they called the Dez catch correctly and we came away with a win, we would have beat Seattle. Woulda been a helluva SB Brady v Romo.

2007 and it ain't close.

That defensive roster alone that Parcells mostly built, was actually a good to excellent group with good depth.

Prime Romo and T.O. speaks for itself offensively.

What, 13 team probowlers or something...

Every year thereafter has been incremental decline and performance by the dee.
Just a few years after and the defense truly starts to enter that mediocre and below purgatory with personnel and performance that it's remained at ever since.

2007 was a better team, balanced offense and defense. On the 2nd to the last play, Romo threw the winning TD pass to Crayton, and he pulled up. That's how close it was. Next game would have been for the NFC championship at home, with TO a little more healthy.

In the playoffs in 2014, the dline was a complete non-starter for any kind of run. Rodgers was hobbled, and they still couldn't do anything.

Cowboys vs. Green Bay 2014 Playoff Game
Terrell McClain was our only decent dlineman for the year, and he was out injure on an already thin dline rotation. We went to the game with only 8 dlinemen.

2 players never played another NFL snap.
4 more were out of the league by the end of the next season.
All these rejects accounted for 3 100% positions on the dline for that game.

Snaps in Game/Snaps Remaining in Career/Years Remaining in Career
31/0/0 Anthony Spencer
18/0/0 Josh Brent
22/35/1 Ken Bishop
37/370/1 George Selvie
46/380/1 Jeremy Mince
50/580/1 Nick Hayden

22/lots Demarcus Lawrence
46/lots Tyrone Crawford

Aaron rogers happened 2014/2016 and the defense while better then we have now just wasn't up for the challenge of one AR..

who coached those Packers teams...?:huh::rolleyes:o_O

however i have to say 2007-2009 also some great teams that shoud have went future, not just one year...its headscratcher to how we did at least get to 2 NFCCG let alone a SB..heck we were playing well enough in 2018 on roll ie old MO going what 5-3 downs the stretch and then beating Seatle and just had that one bad 2nd qtr in LA..we lost by 8 as bad as we played that was also a shot ..

Correction--the Cowboys had the equivalent of one bad HALF in that play-off game. Scored a TD 6:03 left in the 1st quarter; didn't score again until 5:20 mark in the 3rd quarter = 31 minutes, 43 seconds going scoreless.

2007 was the superior team, but I liked the 2014 team a lot. They were very much physical and that OL was the reincarnation of the Great Wall of Dallas.

Smith. Leary. Frederick. Martin. Free. Ooof.

If Julius Peppers doesn't strip Murray on that play in the Divisional Round and if the Dez play stood as called...oh what could have been. Seattle did NOT want to play us again.

nah the 2nd qtr is where the game got away from us yet we came back to make it a one score game..it was the 2nd qtr that got out of hand..

simply talking mostly the defense we outscored them in all other qtrs basically won the second half but could never catch up..

who cares just stating that was winnable game so 2018 on the road an 8 point loss was a SB contentions as OP only points out one year i see 4..
