I didn't know that. That's pretty lame, if you like stick shift. TBH, after driving a 10 speed manual truck about 300 miles a day, I'm not sure I'd want a stick in my personal vehicle......But they just got me a new truck at work, which is an automatic. I'm not crazy about the lack of control (it shifts when it feels like it, which makes things like slowly backing up to a dock tricky.) but it's nice in bumper to bumper traffic. No more clutch leg fatigue.
Somewhat related, but... I bought my wife an Acura MDX recently. 10 speed automatic and it is smooth as silk.

That's not about this team or any team being family, it is about you and me. Our team that we choose to root for is like family to us.

And sometimes we can get crossways with family or feel they're letting us down but they are still family.

I see too many posts calling out other posters about their fanhood completely based on our own interpretation of how a fan should be, how they should feel and how they should support their team. That works for ourselves but we need to remove the filter of ourselves to understand how others might feel.

Our own definition of a fan works for us but that doesn't necessarily apply to others. As odd as it may seem to some that others want the team to lose in the hopes of getting better, that does not make them less of a fan.

Think of that as a family member that is in trouble and in need of help but they have to hit rock bottom and realize they need help before they can accept it.

If you still have hope for this season, good for you. If you do not and have already begun to think about the future, good for you.

We can debate with others, even argue with them but the one thing we should not do is question their loyalty to the family.

There is no connection or degree of fanhood just because a poster is optimistic and positive. That is merely a choice. If someone has lost hope, they shouldn't get hammered for it. And their level of fanhood should not be questioned.
Great post @CouchCoach... Love the family analogy. It fits.

I admire those posters that, when they disagree, they back their position up with facts or data. I still may not agree, but at least I understand better their position.

Now, regarding those posters that simply state, "You're and idiot" and get a reply, "No, you are"... That reminds me of arguing with my brother when we were about 10 and 12.

If the players love the team concept as the fan do we will always be in a good shape ..but don't expect much from mercenaries

But what is the "team concept" for fans? We're rooting for history and uniforms. We don't know the players, be they "mercenaries" or Bob Lilly. They come and go as the decades pass leaving us with those two constants.

Well, in the Cowboys case there is now a third constant. It's the reason this team doesn't mean what it once did to me and probably never will again.

Well said CC. I don't take what's posted on here too seriously but I get the frustration. I don't understand the level of venom some people go at each other with on here. It's amusing but kind of bizarre.

We have the opportunity as a “Cowboys fan family” to live in a large house, instead of living in a bunch of small segregated huts with only the people we agree with. One of the things I absolutely love about this forum is the diversity of opinion. All in the same “Cowboys fan family”.

An understanding we should all embrace together on this forum is that families have disagreements. But family is family. My late aunt was someone I often clashed with on politics, family issues, etc. But we never ripped each other. We disagreed a ton. But she always made me laugh, and we never stopped being family members.

Maybe if we all recognized that “being right” is a silly notion when it comes to opinions. We should all offer our opinions with the idea that just being able to express it here is a victory in and of itself. Not name calling those whose opinions clash. We are all right sometimes and wrong sometimes in what we say here. If being “right” had a scoreboard, most of us would maybe be .500 if we were lucky.

Here’s an idea: How about having a forum called “Where I was Wrong”, where everyone could self confess their opinions or predictions that ended up being wrong. Maybe if we all did that we could reduce the amount of silliness about having the “right opinion” that happens all too often.

@CouchCoach thanks buddy for this great topic. I appreciate all the friendships I’ve been lucky enough to gain through this forum. I’m grateful for all you crazy Cowboys fans!

I would have just said, "get over yourself", instead of flowering it all up with all them extra words. What the hell do I know though... my cave smells like leather, motor oil with maybe a hint of skunk.

I appreciate most of the people on here so I concur. I would be prevalent in the "Where I was wrong" forum, both on here and personally.

Don't agree. Family should be loyal, not quit on each other. My opinion is that if you turn your back on your Family, you're not worth a darn.

Excellent post, there are a lot of loyal fans here with varying degrees of opinions for team success.

Fans root for their team and criticize the players at the same time. It's what we do.

Depends how you do it. We got people here the root for injuries bash bash bash. Our best players. THAT...is NOT what we SHOULD do.

If you wanna say zeke fumbles...fine. He does. And it's stupid. He needs to hold that rock like his tattoo.

But to bash him as not being a rushing champion "because he has too many carries"...is STUPID...and NOT a fan.

Only thing I question is the Jones morons‘ ability to run a franchise, and I don’t even question that any more. Answer is undeniably “They can’t.”
