We can still win division and Gilbert needs to start

I’ve been super negative this year .
I know we suck and will get blown up in playoffs but I’d rather win the division than go for a higher draft pick . There I said it .
Based on how defense is playing and the hope that Gilbert can play a bit better than the Red BB Gun means we can still pull it out .
Cowboys are a game out . Let’s give it a shot! We need Gilbert to start anyway to see what we might have , we know what we have in Dalton .

Start Dalton to boost his comp pick value. That should be our main goal. And for winning, Dalton is likely better.

I'd like to see Gilbert get some games to develop/eval him for next year. RFA.

It's easy to look great on the heels of Nooch, but come on. Yes, he was better than expected, but he made some poor throws including an INT when we were ready to get at least 3. Granted, Moore's playcalling was putrid on that series, but I'm not ready to say Gilbert is taking us to the playoffs. Still, he might be a decent backup to keep.

dammmmm, this division is so weak.....i can remember the champion being called the Beast from the East. Dallas, Washington, Philty, NY, was a battle and the winner usually played for the NFC championship. How the tables have turned, or something like that.

Give me the higher draft pick than just getting knocked out in the first round of the playoffs, get a mid level draft pick and not significantly elevate the franchise with talent only to repeat another 8 and 8 year the NEXT year. This team is AWFUL in free agency, so the draft is our only real opportunity to add talent to the team. How many of our FA guys are no longer on the team? Like 90%? I don't want any pyrrhic victories. I'm sure the dolphins are glad they were bad enough to draft Tua.

I want some elite talent on this franchise. That's likely the only way we sniff a Superbowl any time in the near future.

I agree, let GG play next 2 games and go from there.
He looked pretty good today, against one of the best defenses in nfl.

This thread makes me laugh. We're talking about Double G like he's Tom Brady. He was very encouraging though. Looked poised and calm. There's several scenarios I have been ruminating over and over again in my mind.
1. We start G the rest of the way and the offensive line gels and the defense continues to get better. We win the division at 6-10 or 7-9, depending on who we beat. G plays great the rest of the way and then we have an offseason to discuss him and Dak. Just one more argument point in the great Dak debate.
2. We start Dalton and he sucks and we lose out.
3. We start Double G and he plays great but we lose the division and lose out on a top 5 draft pick. But GG plays great and ups his trade value.

My personal opinion is mixed. I don't want to play to lose this year so we get a good draft pick just because I am not confident with the FO making draft decisions. Ala Taco over TJ Watt. The last top 5 pick we got was Zeke and that Ewok is one doughnut away from being a Wookie. Why suck just to pick up more suck players? We hung with a undefeated team that might win the super bowl. In fact I think we beat them but the refs took it from us but that's not the debate I want to have in this thread. No coach in his right mind will go back to Dalton. This offense looked so much better with GG. Body language and execution. The defense also looked like they wanted to compete and held their ground. This looked like a different team today and the only thing that was different was GG.

So my opinion right now is go all out. Start GG and hope the offensive line gels and hope the defense continues to improve.

My only desire for us to lose out is not for a draft pick. Again I have no faith in the FO to make a good pick that will last us for 5-10 years. My only hope with losing out would be it totally demoralizes Jerry Jones. If losing out rips his heart out and depresses him than I'm all for it. If Jerry is so mentally ill and dysfunctional that he can not be humbled and learn from losing then I want to win as much as we can. There's no draft pick in the world that will change the dysfunction and culture of the Cowboys. the only real change is Jerry realizes it's Jerry and if that comes from losing then I hope we never win a game until Jerry and son change.

So I'm hoping for #1, then #3 and then #2, if scenario #2 means Jerry really, really hurts.
