The New York Giants' internal discord on their coaching staff apparently extends beyond recently fired offensive line coach Marc Colombo.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported the Giants could also fire offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, who is "under scrutiny" for the team's offensive struggles.

Colombo served as an assistant under Garrett in Dallas, so there is a pretty obvious through line for potential friction. Head coach Joe Judge and Colombo reportedly clashed on offensive line techniques, leading to a heated relationship. It seems logical that Garrett would lean toward siding with Colombo, given his entire coaching career was previously spent as part of Garrett's coaching staff.

The Giants fired Colombo during their bye week, with the relationship between the assistant and Judge becoming so toxic they had security escort Colombo out rather than have a meeting with Judge.

The Giants are 3-7 in Judge's first season at the helm, with the former Patriots assistant being under scrutiny for his coaching style since the beginning of camp. Daniel Jones has shown little improvement in his second NFL season, struggling with turnovers while also making few big plays—a deadly combination for an offense.

Football Outsiders ranks the Giants as a bottom-10 offense. Their defense has not fared any better.

Most of the issues that plagued Garrett late in his Dallas tenure have followed him to New York, with the Giants lacking imaginative play calling for most of the season.
I didn't figure Garrett would improve the Giants' offense...but this inner turmoil might make him one-and-done in the Big Blue.

First off Garrett may have some input in hiring Colombo but Garrett having been a former head coach also is smart enough to know not to takes sides between another coach and the head coach. Saying that Garrett took sides with Colombo is just as much as just speculation and guesswork as my claim of Garrett being smart enough to not get involved with disputes between other coaches and the head coach. If indeed Judge is under scrutiny by management and not just more speculation than keep firing coaches he hired isn't helping that. I think first year head coaches this year are being given a lot of slack because of the totally different off season and training camp and no preseason. No new head coach before has had to go through what they have had to this season. I could be wrong but I think this is just more unverified speculation by a sportswriter looking for some clicks.

I'm not sure what anyone is supposed to do with Danny Pennies and no Saquon.

And please don't take that as any support of Garrett (I couldn't have been happier he left), just wondering.

They need Oline.. Average QBs and flashy RBs are not the way forward.

Did Judge hire Garrett or was that a recommendation from Mara?

I do find it odd that a guy like Garrett would get crossways with his HC over his OLC. The guy is too politically savvy to make waves, not his style at all.

If there is truly coaching unrest in NY, they need more of it because they're playing the best ball of all the East teams.

Ridiculous report.

Except for Danny Dimes still being a turnover machine in his second NFL season, the Giants lost their best playmaker in Barkley, and their OL, while improving, started the season with 3 rookies. I’ve watched three Giants games and was impressed with play-calling. Dropped passes has also been an issue, along with a sad defense that insists on trying to make a playmaker out of Peppers who cannot cover.

this is not possible @Idgit and @MikeB80 told us that 10 years of garbage coaching by Garrett is not enough and he is a great OC and HC

I'm no Garrett supporter, but the reason that offense struggles is the QB turns the ball over constantly.
100% agreed. It’s like Belichick trying to be great with Cam Newton. You can only do so much when you’re working with bad players (I tried to word that as politely as possible — Cam is a joke).

And no, I’m definitely not trying to compare Garrett to the goat haha.

I think Garrett changed up his spit-clapping routine, that may be the issue

maybe one of his 2 fans on CZ can call him and tell him

he used to be such a great coach in Dallas
