In Jerry's defense, what exactly is he supposed to say?

Admitting publicly that the team is trying to lose on purpose would probably get him fined, suspended, or even draft picks taken by the Commish.

I'm no Jerry fan as the regulars on here know, but what else is the man supposed to say? Even if he thought tanking was the answer, he can't publicly say it.

He could save face by telling people we are trying to tank. Otherwise it's laid bare that we have an atrocious coaching staff, overpaid scrubs, and the worst "GM" in football.

It's sort of tough to win when you have PT Barnam as your GM.
