Draft Draft Draft , Cap space , great defense , all are useful things for any winning super bowl team . We have enough grossly overpaid players on the roster don't you agree?
. this makes it painful to also pay dak top money . This is the reality , Nothing against dak , it is jerry and FO who put this team in this situation .
grossly over paid player, but shouldn't stop you from paying those that perform and we should. I don't think Martin is over paid. We paid Cooper and he is our leading receiver. We paid Jaylon we shouldn't had. We should have paid Jones and kept him, but didn't. We paid Lawrence and We shouldn't. so its not all bad.

Jerry and FO put the team in this situation because they made every conceivable wrong call on the defense over the past 5-8 years.....FA and draft. its an organizational issue that no amount of money or draft picks can fix at this point, unless we have somebody else doing our defensive talent evaluation.

Obviously you haven't caught on that the market value especially for QB's goes up EVERY year QB's that has won awards and set NFL records market value is higher than those that don't do those things. You need to get 2 year old market value out of your head. Oh BTW Prescott had already agreed to 35 mil but length and guaranteed money couldn't get settled.

.
I think it came down to length of contract....Jerry should have accepted for his own good. I think this was a Jerry mistake.

Let me see,

Eenie meenie miney mo
Catch a bad quarterback by his toe
If he holla
If-if, if he holla, let him go
he's indecisive, he can't decide
he keeps on lookin' from left to right

Man, come a bit closer, look in my eyes
Searching is so wrong, I'm Mr. Right

I'll go with Dak!!!
Seriously thought you were talking about dak. Was gonna say you hit it right in the nail..

No you're not understanding how the non-exclusive franchise tag works. If a team offers a non-exclusive franchise tag and the player does not sign it prior to free agency starting, the player can accept an offer sheet from another team and his current team has the right to match the offer. If they don't the original team gets 2 first round picks from the other team and none of the players contract is part of the original teams cap. Now a new team can make the offer after that years draft so the 1st round picks would be the next 2 years. Just like original teams have until July 15th to sign players that have tags to a long term contract, new teams can not offer contracts to tagged player after July 15th. It doesn't matter because if the Cowboys have to tag Prescott again they will use the exclusive franchise tag again so no other team can have access to Prescott.
.
.

Ahh I see. And this can happen with or without Dak's signature?

Give Dak a consistent run game, a consistent defense that creates turnovers and a real coaching staff WITH that #1 ranked offense. I AM a Cowboy fan, period.

Any NFL QB could show success with all that.

Dak is a good QB and he wants elite money. That’s not hating, that’s the business of the current NFL.

I’d like to see Dak back. In the $25-29M range.
Otherwise, I’d take Jimmy’s advice and draft a first round QB and start the rebuilding process.

If you want to score roughly 20 points less per game and be a bottom barrel team, you should choose Dalton.

We had Dak scoring 38+ pts and were still a bottom barrel team. What’s the difference except one gets much higher paid. The cheaper option even has more more wins this season. With a worse team at that.

I don’t even know why people hate on Dak... for the most part he’s been one of the only players worth rooting for in Dallas.

Andy Dalton isn’t even in the same league... it’s actually embarrassing that fans push an agenda with no backing.
Most don’t hate him. He’s just not worth what he thinks he is. Not difficult to understand.

Dak and it’s not even close. 145 yds per or 350-400? Yeah I know who I want out there.
I’d bet dollars to donuts that given equal offensive lines for protection it would not be that far apart.

People act like he’s Mahomes. That he ain’t. Under $30M I’d sign him.

Imo Dak is elite. But you want to draft an unknown rookie QB, who may be a bust, and not pay Dak. Draft ALL defense.

Was Aikman Mahomes? But if this was Aikman playing now instead of Dak, Dak haters would not question paying Aikman elite money. They bring up Dak's so called flaws, but never bring up Aikman's career 141 int's to 165 td ratio.

"We can't win anything with Dak."

That may be true, but you sure aren't winning anything with Dalton. So if you're anti-Dak but pro-Dalton, I'll give your QB opinions the respect they deserve. :muttley:
