Apples to oranges.

Felix was drafted as a complimentary back to Barber

Zeke was drafted to be the guy.
Felix was no where near Zeke at any point in time
:hammer:

Felix decided to bulk up to carry the load but it cost him his game breaking speed and eventually his career.

and Felix bulked up because he was never durable. he couldn't stay healthy or sustain - and woe it be to us for drafting a complimentary and scat back in the first round.

Zeke is signed through 2027 and you're talking about his prime years being wasted.

Don't draft running backs high.

Don't pay running backs.

I was actually talking about when we drafted Zeke and the comparison to Felix, meaning the time when he wasn’t resigned, though he was still more than adequate the first year of his new contract, even with Columbo as OL coach who couldn’t last more than a few games as OL coach in NY and now when the OL is completely decimated.. The reality is we wasted Zeke’s prime years and this OL catering to this mediocre QB period..

I want Zeke to have one more season here. Especially with his cap hit if he's not. If he's the all pro first round pick he should be then he will hear all this talk of him being done, get in great shape in the offseason, and come back a beast next year. If he declines next year then it'll be painfully obvious that he either doesn't care or doesn't have it. I just find it so hard to believe an RB like Zeke just lost it even after the wear and tear from the first few seasons.

Zeke is a power running back with speed. Give him the ball 20+ times and he can bring it, yea he does need a decent OL. As much as I like Pollard, he wouldn’t last the season carrying the load. He is a change of pace back.

You don't waste a RB's prime. He waste's your time.

Zeke needed to be a generational talent like Tomlinson/Peterson/Faulk etc to be worth it. Instead he's been an off field distraction, has not stayed in shape and hasn't matched his rooie year for impact.

What a waste of a top 4 pick.

Shame.

Actually, there was a board called Cowboys-Forum that got shut down years ago that I recognize some of our posters from.

Yes, it got shut down and some along with me came here but not all. 2 posters I miss that I see did not come over. One had just lost her husband right before the board closed down. Hope she is well.

Zeke is 25

And his prime years are behind him. Or his prime year. Zeke has been on a slide since his rookie season. It happens. Power RBs rarely last that long. He *may* have a bounce back season or two. If we get Tyron, Collins, and Dak back, Zeke should do better because the offense around him is better. But I'd bet against him *being* much better himself as runner, though I expect that the fumbling is more of a fluke, and won't be the same problem next year.

Yeah, I came here before it was shut down myself. But like you said, not a lot of us made the jump.

Again, Zeke was drafted for Romo period and no RB carries a team on their own in this era.

Zeke was running like a generational talent his first four years despite our mediocre QB, who kept throwing behind his WRs and kept throwing off his back leg.

To point out once again, RBs are there to create opportunities for the passing game in this era which he did. He was still doing it last year as evidence by all the yards out mediocre QB netted on play-action on turf, but who is more than garbage on grass.

And again, goal of a football team is to win a SB and we wasted that chance by catering to a mediocre QB period. We didn’t waste it by drafting Zeke. We wasted it by benching Romo for the mediocre QB.
We also wasted our all pro-line catering to this mediocre QB.

No, Felix was never a feature back type. He was a speedy utility player that offered a great change of pace. Once his speed declined so did his effectiveness. Zeke is a pound between the tackles player that isn't truly a speed guy.

Imagine thinking Zeke was running like a generational talent for any 4 year stretch of his career.

Hint: He wasn't.

And please don't quote me and post empty calorie metrics like rushing titles based on volume.

Anyway check this from years ago

Are you talking about The Ranch? Yes a number of players posted there, including me. As in any forum including this one it had its share of brilliant and knucklehead posters and those in between that characterization.

No, we wasted Zeke’s prime years catering to the mediocre QB. We also don’t know the state of the OL anymore because of catering to the mediocre QB. Zeke was drafted for Romo, remember.

Ya every mediocre QB is voted NFL offensive rookie of the year and every mediocre QB leads their team to be the #1 offense in the league. Or maybe your Prescott hatred has you blinded to reality.
