I will take a different road here, backup QB. It has become the second most important position in NFL. Without a quality backup your season ends if starter is hurt and its a rare year that starter doesn't miss a game or two. I think the Jones should get real credit here. They may have missed on other FAs but they hit this one. I best they make a run to resign Dalton.

Backup QB is important. But Dallas needs to invest in the back end of their defense.

They've stubbornly believed that investing only in the DL can field a championship defense and have cut corners elsewhere. You need a guy playing center field and need some LBs. You also need to challenge your scouts to find you the best corners and go get them.

I hear what you are saying, but in reality, we lucked into a really nice situation with Andy where we were able to get a legit NFL QB for a song to play backup. I have no doubt, he will get a nice deal to start for a team like NE or WFT. The better journeyman backups like Fitzpatrick or Foles will normally end up with teams without an established starter. The best we can hope for is a backup that can win a game or two if Dak gets something minor.

If Alabama Mac Jones is there in round 2, I would draft him. Maybe Trask.

I would like Dalton to return next year but who knows what the market will be for him.

Hard to read the tea leaves in the NFL. OL looked like a strength until Fredbeard retired, Smith got injured, and Collins suddenly lost all cartilage in his hip. Then it was all out panic mode with two undrafted FAs with no experience starting. Fortunately the Cowboys had the depth to weather it and found potential starters in Steele, Knight, McGovern, and Biadasz.

Does McCoy come back next year? Does Hill continue to improve? Same with Gallimore and Hamilton. Need some help and insurance there.

Need at least 2 CBS if Lewis and Awuzie leave.

Safety is a big question mark.

Not only in the DL, only at DE. And they love to fill the DL roster spots w/ mostly 3 tech types, and then try to play them everywhere.

I'm hoping McC changes that, and there's signs he will.

Until we can stop being gashed up the middle, all the CB's and LB's in the world won't help us.

GM, defensive coordinator, head coach. Honestly nothing matters until the first one is replaced and that will never happen.

Yeah if we don't draft a couple of middle defenders Jerry needs to fire himself.. He's done a horrible job on that front for the better part of a decade now.
