NFL needs to go to a lottery system for the top ten picks.....

Agreed. Tanking has really become too common in the NFL, and why not? The system allows them to do it. With a lottery system, hey, tank away. You're still not guaranteed to get that franchise QB. It's a logical move, and could give NFL yet another Primetime show, where they reveal the order live in front of millions.

I really don't care about what the Eagles did, simply because I know the NFL is never going to get crack down on them hard enough. I can see the NFL fining the Eagles a feeble amount. AT BEST, they take away like a 6th or 7th Rounder. Oh No!

If the NFL really wanted to crack down on tanking, here ya go. Any attempt at egregious tanking means you lose your first rounder. Better yet, they're automatically made the 32nd pick of the 1st Round. Back of the line you go! haha

The commissioner can do whatever he wants, basically, to protect the integrity of the league. I doubt he will do anything, but it wouldn't be a total shock. They have to be pretty embarrassed given the game was showcased as the final one of the regular season. The NFL doesn't like to be embarrassed.

I would bet the worst would be a substantial fine and maybe docking the Eagles a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

Point is: they don't need a reason beyond the commissioner deems the punishment as being in the best interest of the league. The idea he needs a justification should have been disproven long ago.

Birds are getting roasted by fans, media and former players for tanking. More drama for the city of brotherly love.

The coaching staff has be Jones'd in Philly. Lurie, through Roseman, has been pulling the puppet strings and I do believe Schwartz wants no part of that type of organization. Pederson is clinging to his job and has acquiesced. Cross Schwartz off the list of potential DC candidates in Dallas. He wouldn't work for Jerry.
Not sure I’m getting your drift. If Pederson is a puppet in Philly, why wouldn’t he be a puppet in Dallas?

Who cares? I guess the integrity of the game means nothing.
Right on. Carry on.
Actually the plan was for Hurts to only play a half, and all the players new it. So this wasn’t some tank job.
If this investigation of this clearly obvious Eagles tanking will cost them their early 1st round pick, thus moving the Cowboys from #10 to #9, I'm all for it!
Didn’t you want the DC to tank like so many others? This whole story is a BS headline catcher with no merit.

This whole "tanking" debate can be settled IF the NFL were to take a page from the NBA and have a lottery system set up for the top 10 picks in the first round. The draft order from the 2nd round on can remain the same as it is now, based on the records and SOS.

But having a lottery system for the top 10 picks, while still favoring the team with the worst record, doesn't *guarantee* that team with the worst record the first pick. Which makes sense, given that there are so many years when you've got like four 5-11 teams, each with a legitimate case as to why they should pick higher than the other.

Oh, and if you did a lottery system based on the top 10 picks, that would give Dallas a chance at the top overall pick. What's not to like?

absolutely not, no lottery system. There are not enough games for a team to tank to employ this system.
It makes no sense except yo those that just want to change things just to change them. This is not the NBA. And even they need to adjust their system. It is archaic.

..lol...those idiots dont know. I bet Coach Judge was whining like a dog to Gordy. "..Gordy, we could have been contenders, hadn't Pederson brought in Suds"...

Don't give Philly any prime time night games next season.
That would be the hardest the NFL would hit them.
That call came from the GM or the owner.
No way the coach does that on his own.

Schwartz wouldn't take a job with an organization like Dallas. Pederson sold his soul, he will work for anyone.

It just isn't fair that the Eagles didn't lose fair and square due to incompetence.............like the Cowboys did.

I actually don't think what they did was fair to the Giants. Their game determined who made the playoffs from the East. Because of that, they should have been doing all they could to win.

If a team is playing its final game and the outcome has no effect on the playoffs, then I see nothing wrong with getting young players some experience.

The league should never let a team all but try to lose when there are postseason implications.

Lol. What a clown. Philthy has no obligation to give a flying $&?! About the playoff hopes of a division rival. They have draft slots AND the health of their players in a meaningless game to worry about.

I would love to see the NFL move Philly's pick down to the last pick before the playoff teams. Zero chance of it happening but this was really blatant.
