Did Quinn have a history of using multiple fronts in college at Florida?

During his only two years as a DC in Seattle, the Seahawks went to the Super Bowl. Of course, as the head coach of the Falcons his defense was not exactly the Legion of Boom - so who knows?

I think Jerry wants the defense to get back to competitive as soon as possible, to complement the offense which could be very good next season. An experienced coach that runs a 4-3 is probably the most likely way to get that done.

I think him being a DC, instead of a HC, will make a big difference. One can be a defensive minded HC, but there is a DC on the team, for a reason. Having hands on as DC, is different than HC responsibilities.

Jerry is enamored with that old legion of boom defense that went to the Super Bowl 2 times 6 or 7 years ago and won 1.

Dan Quinn was the DC for Seattle then and the play caller for the Secondary.

I like Dan Quinn as a DC and I also think 1 of the other interviews will coach here as secondary coach.

Who will be the defensive line coach would be the last question. I would assume that would be Quinn's choice if hired.

He has far better credentials than his predecessor and the players will know that. Quinn had DC success in SEA and adding HC experience to that should help bring perspective and a possible emergency replacement on the staff.

After bringing in Nolan, McC should be schooled and made a little nervous about his job. He made some really poor decisions, beginning with his choice for DC, so he gets his horns trimmed a little.

I like it. Guy gets fired, his team goes to the NFCCG in his successor's first year as a novice HC. Guy gets hired, team goes 6-10 with the worst D in their history. Did he think he'd get to fire or hire the DC? He's lucky he's not the 7th casualty as a HC. Some GM's would punch his ticket but most might not have hired him.

Could be. Hope you are right. This is true about Wade.

If true, I wonder if we get Earl Thomas? He seemed to work well during those years with Quinn as DC in Seattle. Would be a cheap way to upgrade FS, if Quinn thinks he can keep him in line.

Etc....
my bet is after they hire the DC , that DC will decide who else stays or goes and hires his staff top to bottom so those that are still here are not safe IMO and that the proper way to do it anyway..

I think so too. I’d like the hire. He was a great dc. Coach he was good for a bit but his career as a coach deteriorated. This could be the move we need.
