I will say this, Quinn matched up with Edwards might be a very good fit. Edwards basically ran the dline in Minny and had a top 5 team on D. He knows how to get the most out of average players.I actualy prefer him to coach the dline over anyone we bring in. Just knowing his track record running the 4-3. He and Quinn intrigues me..altho Quinn in itself scares me given his lack of recent success. Maybe in the right system he can get his mojo back.

he and Edwards were both doing that if memory serves. Edwards just seems like he has a plan and high FB IQ to teach our young guys. Tomsula simply couldnt teach well..or relate to todays player. Fair or unfair. I really liked Jims passion..old school fire. But it doesnt translate anymore. The NFL has changed.

my newest concern is Joe Whitt Jr was Quinn's secondary coach in ATL.....and ATL secondary defense was Horrible !
Would McCarthy/Quinn be on board to hire Witt as new DB coach ? . (Uugh !)

I think Quinn is getting hired and if he does, I like it, a 4-3 defensive coordinator and hopefully he brings Witt with him as the defensive coach

they normally have ya fly in on that 2nd interview unless an offer is imminent. Thats in any job interview process.Later today he will be named the new DC I expect

I agree. His only chance of staying if he takes a pay cut and plays strong side linebacker. The issue is he does not like contact or can’t do the dirty work.

The other problem is, there is no lateral positions of promising DCs you can look at.

if we keep Edwards I think its the correct move. It gives us stability, calm on D. The team loves him. He fits. He can coach the DLINE. Quinn brings in a HUGE winning pedigree with Seattle defensively and the lone SB appearance in ATL. If Edwards isnt there I don't want Quinn. Because I think he needs the right staff around him to help what he does work well. The next few hours today will be ineteresting.

yes..but he wasn't the D coord. Nolan was. I hear ya tho...and THAT does make me a touch bothered by Edwards. I must admit.

Maybe, Dallas should look at interviewing Todd Grantham. He was here with Wade in 2007-2009 as DL coach when we were very aggressive up front as soon as Wade took over the defense. The Browns wanted him in 2019, and he turned it down only to get a huge extension for Florida. And even though Florida folded to end the season, there were multiply reasons, including a bunch of injuries and COVID. They have a big recruiting class of defensive players I just read.

I just remember our defensive line was very aggressive on 2011 and our main issues were the secondary as well as LBs, who couldn’t cover worth squat.

I wish there would be a college coach mainly because of the teaching virtually aspect. If you can get kids in college to understand via zoom you can teach anyone especially when things get back to normal.

I loved Wades first defense. Even in the first preseason game that year the players looked like they were let out of a cannon.
