If he succeeds in DAL it won't be because of the years of horrible defenses he fielded in ATL. For his Cover 3, he needs a round 1 SS. And that SS has to remain healthy, period.

The boat has already sailed but would have loved to hand the keys to Richard but we let him go for Nolan. See what he can do. All he did here was call plays from Marinelli's scheme and oversight. This wasn't his defense and control, though.
Richard???? Hahahaha over Quinn? Tf are you smoking?

Jerry: can’t wait to have you on board Dan

Dan: can’t wait to get started

Jerry: one thing though, you’ll be expected to make Jaylon Smith a star- cause I’m paying him like one

click.

jerry: Dan? You still there?

He was a DC for two years with one of the most talented defensive rosters we've seen in recent times. He isn't proven. His recent teams were notorious for giving up huge leads.

His unit was tops in least points yards allowed
and most takeaways in Seattle as a DC
So how is that not "proven "
His unit dominated high scoring peyton manning in super bowl so how is that not proven?
And when you're talking about recent, you're referring to him as head coach of ATL
Whereas hes not being hired here as an HC but as a DC
That's like wade Phillips gus Bradley etc.
These guys fit coordinator roles than they do as HCs.

Wade Phillips has a long history of success. Quinn was a DC for two years with a ton of talent, in a system ran by a defensive guru in Pete Carroll. He became the HC of ATL. He doesn't have a big sample size of success.

So is this guy any good? Is it one of those "great coordinator but not a good HC" situation? I know he took the Falcons to the SB but more recently he was the HC of a team that could never hold a lead and seemed like the defense gave up a lot of points
The reason ATL went to the SB was due to their Defense.

Mr Quinn would be a good hire.

Truthfully though...several names bantered about would be quality hires as well.

Go Cowboys!

In Quinn's first season as defensive coordinator, the Seahawks led the league in fewest points allowed, fewest yards allowed, and takeaways with 231, 4,378, and 39, respectively, to become the first team since the 1985 Chicago Bears to accomplish the feat; the Seahawks went on to win Super Bowl XLVIII.

I will take this.
To be fair, that defense had two bookend pass rushers in Avril/Bennett, solid linebackers in Bobby Wagner/K.J. Wright, two quality safeties in Chancellor/Thomas and an elite Richard Sherman in his prime.

Get me that and this is a great hire.

I am not against the hire, but as was seen in Atlanta, he has to have the ingredients to slap together. Unless they are fully committed to tooling up the defense, I don't expect miracles. We might just have an average to mediocre defense at the end of the day. Which I guess is worlds better than what was peddled out there this past season.
