Of course he did.

Why would Jerry get creative and think outside the box?

"Hey, Stephen, ain't this that guy that built that defense.......... what was it called......... Legionnaires Disease, or something............. we gotta have that guy.............."

whats makes them think these same trash players will be good under 28-3 quinn

This situation SCREAMED for bringing in new blood, let him gut the defense (as best he could given cap space) and go from there.

But Jerry, being the fool he always has been, likely thinks the talent is still good on defense (because hey, he picked them) and all it needs is a tweaking at DC.

I'll give Quinn the same rope I gave Nolan. It was obvious early Nolan was cooked. Hopefully Quinn doesn't suffer the same trajectory.

Count me in.......everyone keeps referencing the Falcon and that's fine but you have to look at his entire body of work as coordinator and DLine coach. Hell look at Todd Bowles, sucks as head coach but man can he coach a defense. So I'm good with this .....100%

So what is Quinn’s defense and philosophy and scene. An aggressive 4-3? If so I am ok with this.
However I will temper my enthusiasm until I see results on the field.
No whining or complaining or rah rah, yay stuff either way.
Also, Now we need to see what they do with the players, current and anyone new, FA’s as well as the draft.

I think the entire secondary is gone, with exception of Wilson, Diggs, and Brown.

This puts that Michigan defensive end in the mix at 10 if he's there. He would be ideal for what Quinn asks his weak side defensive end do.

It's also going to be interesting to see what he does with the sam linebacker. I could see Gregory or Smith there.

Big questions are weak side defensive end, nose tackle, back linebacker, free safety, and nickel corner.

We flat out don't have people for that weak side defensive end nose tackle and free safety right now.

I like the hire....

I am naturally pessimistic about this organization at the Owner/GM, HC and QB level.
This is an upgrade over Nolan.

As Catch17 has said about current Cowboy standards...

The bar has dipped to such low expectation levels for me around here that baby step improvement like Quinn over that total scrub Nolan could actually be seen as a massive improvement.

Until proven otherwise, I actually am okay with this hire as well. And as others have said...
NOW get him a bunch of good defenders to help him do his job.

I have mixed thoughts about this hiring:

-Dan Quinn is well respected, high energy, has a DL background. He is reportedly a good teacher and is well liked by his players.
-When he has had good talent, his defenses have performed well, see Seattle
-Disappointed we are going back to a simplistic scheme. However, transition should be easy and young players can make a quicker impact
-Quinn has done a poor job in building defensive personnel while with the Falcons. Allow the scouts to find him players, he will be fine.

But they keep your offense off the field. It made more sense to go to an aggressive style that at least if you get beat you get the ball back quicker

Didn't that happen enough this year? Getting beat quick, not the aggressive part that is.

This team has no prayer no matter which direction it went

Give the hiring power to Jones? Fail
Give it to fat Mike? Fail
Give it to Will? Fail

We are drawing dead

When you field outstanding talent such as Jaylon Smith, LVE, Darian Thompson and Xavier Woods, you could have my 11 year old as Defensive Coordinator. Anyone could call plays with such talent.
