What's the deal with Wade? He seems like he gets excellent results when he first comes to an organization and then ends up getting fired a few years later. Does discipline just completely slip after the first year?

Not possible. Once you burn that Jerry bridge, there is no rebuilding it.

He's too soft, they called him Camp Cupcake for a reason.

He coaches soft. So players buy in early and get early success. They don’t work hard eventually and it all falls apart

well lets wait to whine and complain until we actually go through the FA and Draft process..

It's not whining by simply stating with a smaller cap and a lot of contracts there won't be much room for free agents.

You've lost me again.

On all the lists produced last week as to possible DC's Wade's name was down.
2 questions-Did he want to come back? and was he under consideration with the Cowboys to come back?

My thread answers that for people who want to know

Since the Cowboys didn't say anything about Phillips, AGAIN why start a thread about something that had been decided before you created the thread. It might be different if the Cowboys had said they were considering Phillips, but they didn't say that so starting a thread because Phillips said he would come back after the job was filled makes no sense.

Wade simply is too kind and soft at heart. The players take advantage of him.

He would have wanted to turn DLaw into DWare as an OLB and DLaw did not like being in a 2 point stance this year.

I really wouldn’t care what Tank wanted to do. He is being paid to play the way the team wants him to play, not to make the team revolve around him.

Yes but DC's that know what they are doing install defenses that take advantage of the things the players do well and not make the players fit his scheme.that doesn't take advantage of what they do well.

Usually the best DC don't bounce around on 8 different teams as DC. Yes Phillips has had a couple good defenses but he's also not been able to turn some others into good defenses..
.
LOL, this is ridiculous. He's had way more than a couple good defenses. He's one of the best of all time, and it's good to see that in his later years fans (informed ones) recognize that. Just look on his twitter page at all the fans begging him to come to their team.

The bit about him always getting fired... At SD he was promoted to here. At Houston, Kubiak got fired so of course the new HC brought in his guy. At Denver where his defense won them that Superbowl, Broncos fans were furious with Elway for replacing him as the defense got worse. At the Rams he got released, but not before holding Brady to his worst Superbowl ever. McVay's offense lost that game.

Besides, who cares about three years from now. That's an eternity now. Good chance that McCarthy isn't even here after three more years.

As far as here, he's better than Quinn, but I'm sure Mike wanted someone he was familiar and comfortable with. As it should be.

Wades been around long enough and knows more about football than most coaches and he can coach a 4-3 but is a specialist at 3-4

with that said it would be like when Parcells coached a 43 his first year in Dallas and stated we would be moving to a 3-4.....we dont have the personnel to run a 3-4 and it would take a minimum of 3 years to get the personnel

with that said ive always liked Wade Phillips

As I said before, good coaches get locked up for long time and aren't available so often. With the eagles they had an middle of the pack defense, oh boy. With the bills he had 12th ranked defense. The chargers 12th again The 2017 rams 15th. So far he doesn't have a top 10 defense which is what good defenses are. I've said he's has some good defenses but he didn't turn every defense into a good defense. I also don't put very much stock in what fans may say about a coach on twitter. There were fans that said good things about Garrett on twitter but that doesn't make them right.

So you're saying he's never had a top 10 defense? If you think that you're looking at the wrong stats somewhere.

You need to reread things. I said and I'll quote "I've said he's has some good defenses but he didn't turn every defense into a good defense" Now where in that does it say or imply that Phillips never had any good defenses?
