Our defense sucks and is a huge reason — the biggest reason in fact— we are not competitive.

But here is another reason we suck. Our “all world” offense consistently gets off to flat, slow starts. They make a lot of dumb mistakes. Their best players routinely turn the ball over.

All this puts us regularly in the place where Dak and the offense have to scramble to come back in most of their games.

The D is bad. Granted. But we are 31st in the NFL in terms of cap dollars committed to the D. If you want to look at ROI... look at our inconsistent performances on Offense. That is where we have sunk our money, and they are simply not dominant enough to take leads and control games consistently enough considering the investment.

You are right to want better from our D. But don’t avoid holding the offense accountable... and especially this front office accountable— for the quality of the product on the field

If Cavenaugh is somehow trying to prop up the offense, he's again giving misleading stats.

Of their 18 losses over the last two years, they have scored over 30 in only 2 of them

The team scored only 19 or less points in 8 of their 10 losses this year.

So they were 2-8 when they didn't score even 20 points. They scored over 30 in just 2 of the 2 losses.

Last year, they failed to score 20 in 5 of their 8 losses. and never scored over 30 ina loss.

It's a completely misleading and dishonest tweet by Cavenaugh.
He may as well say we are are 0-16 when not scoring 50 as well. It's dumb.

The offense does not “consistently” get off to slow starts. There were a few games this year but saying consistently is not being fair.

Cavenaugh is full of it.

Here are the point totals in our losses over the last two seasons.
As you can see. In the 18 losses, the offense lit it up (scored over 30) 2 times.
We actually scored 10 or less points 3 times in both years (6 total)

We need to do what Miami did. They went from one of the worst teams in the league to a playoff contending team had the AFC not been so packed. Blow it all up. Offense, defense, and coaching. Of course, you need a mastermind like Flores, but if we had a smart GM, it wouldn’t be so hard to find someone with his mindset.

The Chiefs won 6 games in the regular season when they scored under 30, including a game where they only put up 17. and they just won a divisional round playoff game scoring 22.

This has been a theme with Dallas since the Romo years. If the offense doesn't score the team loses. If the offense does score, the team may still lose.

A strong minded coach like Flores would probably have enough sense to not work in an environment with Jerry sticking his face into a mic whenever possible talking about the team.

And every other thing....

Recipe for disaster.

With a better D I see potentially 6-7 more wins there in that timeframe.
Huh.
