Just did some YouTube scouting from my couch and this guy is a monster. He covers like a safety, he hits like a linebacker. Reminds me a little of Deion Jones whose a great player. If we're going to take a linebacker early, make it this guy because he can easily cover tight ends. His highlight reel he even covers in the slot. Yes he's undersized, but we have a oversized guy in LVE who can't shed OL either. This is one LB I wouldn't mind first round for this scheme and the way the league is heading.

JOK is certainly in the running to be drafted at 10. He is a linebacker/safety hybrid. I just wonder if you can develop a 3rd or 4th rounder who can be as good in a
couple of seasons for a cheaper cost. The reality he probably won’t be there if we trade down.

I don’t think he will be either. I’d take him over Parsons without question.

With our current DT's JOK is a wasted pick. We have big linebackers that struggle, stack/shedding, what do you think would happed with a 215 LB player? Unless you can protect him, he is going to struggle, just as much as Lve/Jaylon if not more.

I’d love to have a monster in the middle to clog the opposing OL but it’ll need to come via FA because there aren’t any in this draft. DT is a weak position this year.

I disagree. There may not be any elite 3 tech's, but there are several 1 Tech's that would fill the need. I am still signing a veteran as the position usually has a steep learning curve on the NFL Level.

Good thing the draft doesn't stop after the 1st pick!

Just saying he is more of a nickel player in my eyes due to his small frame and what we have inside at defensive tackle. Unless they fix upfront, taking such a player would be a wasted pick.

He's going to get killed in the run game at the next level at LB.

He's a project bc he likely needs to switch positions to be successful.

I don't think he's a target of ours unless we trade down. We wouldn't take him at 10.

That being said, it would be interesting to see if he's a guy Quinn would have interest in given he seemingly likes the smaller, faster LB types.

Supposedly Parsons is training as an outside edge rusher hybrid similar to Collins. If we were running a true 3/4 that would be interesting. I noticed that draftnicks have him falling to the 11-13 range.
I think if Parsons is there at 10 he’s certainly going to be in the mix.

Weren't people saying Leonard played at 215lbs this season? I don't think JOK has Leonard's instincts, but he has more explosiveness and athleticism.

The end all answer to our LB woes isn't just "get a big body." I'm so tired of hearing that. It's also about schemes and gap play and the aggressiveness of your backers. Our linebackers constantly get met downfiel by OL because they sit there and wait. Not just because there isn't enough beef up front. It's schematic and a symptom of having two finesse backers.

Even at 215, if JOK is willing to fire through gaps, instead of sit and wait, he can play the position. That said, most backers put on 10-15lbs when they get into NFL programs and their metabolism slows down. JOK at 225 is more than enough meat to stack and shed as long as it's done with decisiveness and aggression. No more of this letting the OL come to you BS Jaylon does.

All that said, I wouldn't take him at 10. Late teens is his sweet spot I think. If Surtain isn't there at #10, I'm trading back or taking Leatherwood.

Darius Leonard, the Colts All-Pro LB, played at 215 this year. The way offenses are constructed in the NFL today basically calls for a Base Nickel D...just depends how the DC wants to configure it. In Dallas, if you draft him, you already have 2 “traditional” size guys in Jaylon and LVE, so adding the “smaller” guy shouldn’t be an issue.
