This is great news.

Sure, some of you will act like he's not worth it and will turn your noses up at him. But keep in mind that we had like the world's worst defense last year, and we can't fill every hole in the draft.

I'm pretty much in support of signing anybody for that horrible unit.

I believe that he was hurt for most of 2020. Would be a good pickup for a transition year or two since we know that the Joneses are not going to seek out expensive, young talent to man the spot. The issue is how much Sherman would want. Our recent history shows that we'd be willing to go up to $7 million or $8 million at most.

This^^^^^ all of it......he injured most of 2020 ( only played 5 games ). 2019 he was pretty solid, only missed 1 game.
Honestly, I don't care either way coz it's hard to say how much he has left at 32. I do know I heard a couple of NFL executives call him the smartest DB in the league. Word is he's become a film rat over the last few years. Watches tons of tapes on his opponents. So it's hard to say much is left ( at least for me it is ) but I'm NOT willing to pay him starter money ( $5-6M highest I go ).
Quinn knows him better than anyone here.......I'll leave it to him

I bet somewhere in the $7-8M range would do it, and he's instantly our #1 CB.

Quick side note: Read a couple of tweets that we could see an avalanche of vets released shortly after the Super Bowl.

Cowboys 2021 free agency: Dallas hasn't ruled out interest in Richard Sherman, but lots to consider
They'd like to open a dialogue with him, if he's willing to talk

It's no secret the Dallas Cowboys have been attempting to reconstruct the framework of the once infamous Legion of Boom, but having failed to do so to this point. The addition of Kris Richard as passing game coordinator in 2018 was a lynchpin in their more recent attempts, but Richard was let go in 2020 when the head coach and defensive regime changed. One year later, there's been another seismic shift -- one that sees Dan Quinn taking over after a historically abysmal showing by now-fired defensive coordinator Mike Nolan -- which serves as a reset button to build in Dallas what the Seattle Seahawks once boasted, and this is where Richard Sherman might come into play.

But I wouldn't be interested in Sherman as a CB, ..but more of a chance of him coverted to FS and taking it to center fielding. He has size and ball hawk INT skills at his disposal,
and i'd see him as past CBs turned safety. ala Aneas Williams, and the two Woodsons Charles and Rod.

As a pure CB I question if he can turn and run with receivers on a constant basis...

I guess it depends on if we look at him as a starter or a strong backup. I wouldn’t hate him in nickel/dime packages in a zone heavy scheme.

Diggs, early pick rookie, brown, Sherman may be decent at CB.

why would go after him as a nickel- dime guy ? His vet minimum wage alone will be probably much too high for a vet of his tenure for that kind of role.

If Quinn uses the Cover-1 scheme, Sherman would be a better fit at corner than at safety. The safety in that scheme has to be really able to cover some ground. The corners get to be physical and less reliant on pure speed.
