If you cut Crawford, it frees up 10 million.
The salary was projected to be lowest around 175 million but few cap websites are now projecting the floor to be around 185 million. If true that opens up additional 10 million.

Jerry can also put in a phantom year on Dak’s contract with portion of guaranteed money in it.
How do you cut a FA? This is why I am amazed you are still afforded posting privilege's here.

Is Crawford's contract ever over? Dude had no reason to be on the team collecting $20M the past two years.
I wonder if he actually can be cut. For some reason Jerry keeps paying him.
Jerry, just give him some job on your yacht paying him millions instead of wasting valuable cap dollars on Crawford.
Someone reassure me Crawford does not sign a new contract.
I wish I could reassure you. I truly do.

And what if they used that money to extend Gallup instead?

It wouldn't be a bad thing tbh. However, we need safety more. There are usually a lot of good WRs in the draft, but there aren't many Safeties in the draft, and very few good ones. This draft doesn't have much to offer in terms of safeties. Yet, that's a position that we've needed since Keith David and Roy Williams left. Pairing Simmons with Wilson would make our safety position a force to be reckoned with while answering a problem that we've had for a long time yet haven't addressed well at all.

IF they can get Dak signed, I think a lower first-year cap hit from his contract can help them sign at least 1 high-level free agent.

This assumes you have a lower cap hit early and you are backloading the contract, which is very risky considering you don't know how long Covid will last. Lets say we have another year or two of down revenues and the cap continues to be artificially placed on life support, that means that the cap will stay flat for that much longer. A back loaded contract in the last year or two on a four year deal could be disastrous.

Chasing stars go get big headlines is not how you build a championship team in the modern era. Believing it is a big part of what's wrong with Jerry the GM.

Defense should be the priority over an overrated Dak who wants more money than mahomes

Perhaps, but the reality is that it won't be. Jerry has made it pretty clear that Dak is the priority. The only way the team moves off of him is if they are forced to IMO. It would have to be a situation where the ask price just is not possible IMO.

If there was one player in the league I would love to get, money or cap not being an issue it would be Aaron Donald. I think what he does up front has such a great impact I see him as a major difference maker to any defense.

Oh, no doubt! I'd pounce on Donald if given the chance. However, I don't see him leaving Los Angeles any time soon. Simmons would be a nice move for us though.

Sorry to say what most of us are already too well aware of -- Jerry & Stephen are wary of committing big bucks to FAs. It's in their DNA!

Jerry needs to go for the best FA safety he can get, and then draft CB at number 10. That will make for a much improved secondary, and then go all out on DT, LB, OT and another CB/Safety with top 4 picks.

Well, that'd point to Simmons if the Broncos don't resign him. I think he'd be the best FA we could sign. He's better than any of the safeties available in FA.

Even if this draft is loaded with receivers just like all other positions how many end up not being what they were thought to have been in the pros? The Cowboys got lucky with Lamb, but there are a ton of receivers that spend their entire careers trying to live up to their draft pick. As we've discussed before, I don't think trading Gallup and breaking up one of the top 2 set of 3 receivers over the difference between a 2nd and 3rd round pick even though there's also a chance Gallup will be resigned. Again we're going to have to agree to disagree.

I couldn't agree more. He's an awesome threat and has been our leading receiver in many games. I'd sure hate to breakup three of the best receivers in the league.
