I've done a few of these, but first time I've reached for DT in the first, and things turned out kinda good after that. Granted, some consider Barmore a reach without a tradedown, but if you like the player, and nobody trades, you pick him. This draft just may be a good step toward an interesting defense. Not sure about the LB fit for Cox, but it was a "no hesitation" draft.
  • 10. Christian Barmore IDL, Alabama
  • 42. Trevon Moehrig S, TCU
  • 74. Jabril Cox LB, LSU
  • 99. Amari Rodgers WR, Clemson
  • 114. Marvin Wilson IDL, Florida State
  • 139. Daelin Hayes EDGE, Notre Dame

I whiffed. But hey, that's what round 5 is for. :)

I like it. It’s just like my Fix the middle thread I just started. You accomplished that. And I’ll remind people that Richard Sherman was a 5th round pick. I will also remind people that KC’s corners are all late round picks.

Tyler Shelvin was available at 99 too. But I pulled the trigger on Rodgers. It was a coin flip, two of my favorites in the draft.

The 3rd round picks could make or break our draft this year.

So, what are we doing at cornerback?
In this mock you would have to resign at least Awuzie or bring in a different vet.

Diggs, Brown, Awuzie or FA, move Reggie Robinson back to corner, Goodwin....... corner would be a weak spot especially with an injury

True. A later pick is fine, and could develop, but for the present season, a more reliable starter may need to be added or re-signed.

That was a mistake then IMHO. I mean, both are good players, but when you look at your team; one could play a LOT immediately and one might not take a snap all year because of who is in front of him. I would have taken Shelvin 100 out of 100 times in that scenario.

Plus even a rookie like Surtain or Farley would have growing pains as well.

Brown is under contract but I think a veteran corner will be signed and is a must.

Barmore at 10 is a massive reach. You take a WR, but not a single corner?

I just did it quickly using the TDN Predictive Board:

10 - Farley, CB
42 - Barmore, DT
74 - Grant, S
99 - Hudson, OT
114 - Wilson, DT
139 - Sterns, S

I was torn on Wilson given he appears to be lazy and unmotivated at times but in the 4th, I'll take a flier on him given his talent.

i like all those defensive players.
barmore is my favorite dt.
and notre dames daelin hayes is one of my favorite players.
love the tcu s.
and i still like wilson.

barmore,wilson,gallimore,woods,hill....that dt room looks alot better.

I did it:
10 - TE, Kyle Pitts
42 - S, Richie Grant
74 - DL, Tyler Shelvin
99 - CB, Israel Mukuamu
114 - DL, Osa Odighizuwa
139 - EDGE, Daelin Hayes

I went

10 - Caleb Farley, CB VA Tech. Pitts was here but went with the pressing need

42 - Christian Barmore, DT Alabama. Beef on the inside. Another need filled with a talented player.

74 - Jabril Cox, LB LSU. We need bodies at LB with Sean Lee likely retiring. Pursuit linebacker who can play in coverage.

99 - Andre Cisco, FS Syracuse. Single high safety. Another check.

114 - Osa Odighizuwa, DL UCLA. More depth and BPA at this point.

139 - Richard LeCounte III, S Georgia. Splitting hairs here. More depth at safety with Woods and Thompson gone.

177 - Cornell Powell, WR Clemson. My pet cat. I feel this kid is going to make a name for himself in this league.

Pick the mic back up.

Not a fan. Collins is an overreach at 10 IMO. Holland appears to be a third rounder in many draft guides.
