D still wins championships

The biggest takeaways that I got from this game was that defence still wins championships and you have to be balanced on offense. The Bucs won the Super Bowl because they played elite defence from basically start to finish, and because the Chiefs didn't run the football. Jason Pierre-Paul, Vita Vea, and Lamonte David were in Mahomes' face pretty much the entire time. They took away Tyreek Hill and basically told the Chiefs to try to beat them without Hill. The end result was 9 points. Meanwhile, the Chiefs couldn't stop the run at all, and Brady was able to rip them apart as a result. Morale of the story: play balanced offense and build this defence. If you want to have a chance, make the defence afraid of both the run and pass. On the other side of the ball, play good defence, and you'll typically win. Jerry Jones needs to build this defence this off-season so we can have a chance to compete next season.

Agree, but that's not Jerry's philosophy. The narrative around here is that you only need a competent DEF to complement your offense. Todd Bowles should never have been let go by the Cowboys. Again poor evaluaton by us.

I agree. Todd Bowles should have been kept. He was brilliant! Idk if he's a good HC, but he's one of the best DCs in the NFL. The problem is that we don't even have a competent defence. If we had at least a competent DEF, we'd at least be able to get to the NFCC. What Jerry fails to grasp is we fans, I daresay, would reward a good DEF with jersey sales which Jerry wants.

We really havent had a great defense since the salary cap has started. lol I feel that we have done fairly good in the draft but we have sucked big time when it comes to FA. We have a pretty good Offense right now but if we dont get us a defense that can be in the top 15 we are never going to win another SB. I hope that Jerry can realize that and quit ignoring the positional needs on Defense

Well, that's the danger we have. We're in a real catch-22. We have to fix the def while keeping our important pieces intact.

Ikr? Rather than spending on multiple crap players, it'd be better if he signed one big solid player, and then save the rest for the draft if he's going to take that approach. For example, sign Simmons this off-season to fix the safety position.

It does, even on a gimpy leg with injured Offensive linemen the Chiefs would have easily put 40 on this defense. After watching Tampa's D tonight Jerry should be embarrassed fielding this D.
