Reuter 3 round mock 2/8/21

I think Cowboys Zone and the local media would all be in agreement that we would all hate this draft. Would any of these picks start on opening day?

No. Gregory is starting LEO and Lawrence starts other side. Taylor is solid but I don’t think he’s ready to be a day one starter. James isn’t taking snaps from Jarwin and Schultz came on late. Christensen is just depth.

In defense of the mock draft guys I was listening to Ryan Wilson the other day, he does mocks for CBS. He said that early on he just throws sh$&! at the wall at the beginning because it gets tedious doing a mock once a week.

Going Farley at 10
The second I see Barmore has not gone in the first few picks of the 2nd round, I am on the phone using our 4th round pick to jump up and take him.
Taking Richie Grant and McNeill in the 3rd round.

possibly long term fix the secondary and interior dline in one draft, but this is a horrible mock draft so its none but a pipedream.
C’mon man - Grant won’t be there in the 3rd.

You mean like McClay?

I’ll give him a pass since they crushed last years draft

Free agency is a different story

I would gladly have that issue in my daily work routine lol

you didnt read the full 3 round mock draft in the link did you? They have Grant going end of round 3 so yes in this situation Grant was available to be picked. Also I say its a pipe dream lol
Yes and no - all I know is that Grant played himself into low 1 - upper 2 consideration. We’ll need to use our 2nd on him or maybe even try to move up in 2nd for him by dangling one of our 3’s.

I say Grant has guaranteed himself to be a Day 2 pick with his Senior Bowl performance. If he shows amazing athleticism on his pro day then I would be surprised if he didn't go top 40.

i don't mind the first 2 picks.
i really like washington cb keith taylor.
but this guys mock's usually give me a major sinus headache.
because of who is always on the board.
never liked him never will.
risen i like.
but that cbs clown.....no.

1.caleb farley cb va tech
2.alex leatherwood ot alabama
3.richie grant s ucf
3.alim mcneill dt nc state

i'd much prefer that.

Worst mock yet. No to all.

You have to take Farley at 10.
Barmore didn't go until 42, serious trade up decision if that happened. Maybe Wilson or Nixon or Richie Grant.
Richie Grant is still around in 3rd you run to the table but should go in 2nd.

Pick
12
SF

San Francisco 49ers
Caleb Farley · CB
School: Virginia Tech | Year: Junior (RS)

Starting corners Richard Sherman and Jason Verrett will be free agents in March. Farley's versatility would allow the 49ers to play him outside or at safety if they require help there in the future.

Pick
48
LV

Las Vegas Raiders
Marvin Wilson · DT

Pick
88
DET

Detroit Lions
Richie Grant · S
I think Farley will drop in the draft. He will do great at the combine, but he will struggle to start. Too much rust after sitting out a year. Only played CB one season, playing mostly man....inexperienced in zone and as a CB.

I like Rousseau more than most but no way I pass on Farley for him.

I do like a Brevin Jordan but taking a TE in the 3rd doesn’t seem like a prudent move.

My only gripe with Jordan is he won’t get many snaps. Jarwin and Schultz both proved that they are NFL caliber players. Jordan does show the upside, that I like. But if I can bring back Schultz next year cheap, I’m all for keeping friends together. Let McKeon get his shot as well

To me the mocked players aren’t terrible. It’s just the value and needs of players we could get instead that makes it so unappealing

No thank you.

Would prefer (the players available in that mock)

1. Caleb Farley, Rashawn Slater or trade down later in the first.
2. Leatherwood, Allen Robinson, Elijah Molden (slot cb or safety)
3a. Tyson Campbell, Richie Grant, Amon Ra-St Brown, Alim McNeil
3b. Could go Brady with that pick. Or Tyler Shelvin, Baron Browning,

I mentioned in the pet cat thread but I think Jordan could be used as a FB/H-back role. He reminds me of Delanie Walker. That said, taking a FB/H-back in the 3rd round seems like a luxury given the needs on this team.
