Just to give a look at what a draft may look like taking Pitts at 10

10:Kyle Pitts, TE Florida

Best TE prospect since Vernon Davis, and may even be a better prospect. Redzone alpha dog in the NFL

44: Jay Tufele, DT USC

Versatile DT. Can anchor and rush the passer in a 1T, and has the ability to play both 3T and 4T. Should come in and play 700 snaps as a rookie

75: Paris Ford, S Pitt

Not a great S class, but Ford has the upside to be a quality FS in the NFL. This pick would have to be augmented by a vet signing however. Ford probably starts his career in sub packages

3rd comp: Patrick Turner, DE Houston

Alot of versatility and upside here. Probably replaces Armstrong immediately as the #3 DE and can be moved all over the line. Could someday be our LDE

Was high on Ford at the start of the process, but many think he is nothing more then a special teams type of player. Would rather take a Nasirildeen if we are taking more of a box safety. Love Turner, have him penciled in at 115, if he makes it that far.

Biggest thing with Ford is how he progresses in the NFL. You draft Ford, you do so after getting a player to start short term. Moehrig and Grant can come in amd start, but this isn't really a draft you can expect to find a walk in starter at S in the third. I think if Ford to clean some stuff up, he can become a plus starter

I really think if we don't draft either Moehrig or Grant, we won't see a safety drafted until day 3, where it would probably be more of a strong safety who can be a factor on special teams. Can a Hufanga, Ford, Gillespe, Deablo be there on day 3? Think it's possible.

I would really dislike that draft tbh.
R1 Pitts. I am lower on him than most but also just feel he is an awful team fit in Dallas. He may eventually be great buy day 1 he adds nothing to your run game and becomes a 4th elite pass catching weapon.
R2 Tufele. He's rated R3 by most boards. He plays a bit high and may take a year or so to get rotation ready.
R3. Ford has fallen wayyyy down boards. Matt Miller ranked him Safety 14—Paris Ford, Pitt | Overall: #136

With this we do not touch our biggest need, CB or OT which is the deepest position and best value most rounds in this draft.
We also don't address LB on day 1 or 2.

I'm cool with Pitts at 10, but we're going to have to actually sign starters in free agency then. We'll need a DT, CB, S. And if we're blowing our 1st on a TE, we better have settled one of those positions before the draft

I am with you on the Pitts train but comparing him to Vernon Davis made me cringe.

No one will regret the Kyle Pitts selection once they see him dominating and scoring TDs in the red zone.
I am fully on board with Pitts.
There will be good defensive talent to be had in the rest of the rounds.

NEVER PASS UP ON ELITE.

Any Cowboys mock draft that starts with Kyle Pitts gets an F in my book. TE is about the absolute last thing we need and I don’t care if he’s the next Gronk.

I could live with this. Tufele would be our new Tony Casillas.

That’s why you’re on here and not in the war room on DD.

I'd rather go Waddle than Pitts because I don't think he fits with the players already here

But this is a good exercise in how you can go offense in Rd. 1 and still hit needs later.
It's something people really have to start thinking about

I'd also consider Waddle at 10.

It's important for us to be aggressive in free agency. If we are able to plug our holes in defense before the draft, we can let the draft come to us.
