1-Jax QB Lawrence (no brainer here)
2-Jets QB Wilson (getting calls about Darnold, Wilson appears to have the edge at this juncture)
3-Dolphins WR Smith (they love him)
4-Falcons T Sewell (this is where it could get interesting, could go QB)
5-Bengals WR Chase (Slater, Parsons, Farley, could all be in consideration)
6-Eagles TE Pitts (a lot of smoke out there linking him to the Eagles, definitely going offense here)
7-Lions G/T Slater (Campbell is an old schooled run blocking TE, Parsons could also be in play)
8-Panthers Fields QB (Rhule was saying he needs a QB at the Senior Bowl)
9-Broncos Farley CB (extremely thin at the position, QB, Pass rusher could also be in play)

10-Cowboys (Surtain, Parsons, *Lance)

I think this would be the dream scenario for the Cowboys if Farley was off the board. Trey Lance would be a huge trade chip for the likes of 49ers, Patriots, WFT, Colts, Bears. Might be able to get an additional 2 and a 3.

When it is laid out like this I wonder if Surtain or Farley will be there at 10. The one wrinkle that could change some of this is Atlanta. If they take a QB, or trade down to another team looking for a QB, then the Bengals will take Sewell, and the Eagles Chase. Then I can see the Lions taking Pitts. Then the two CBs go to the Panthers and Broncos. But the Broncos could go in a lot of different directions. I am started to get the feeling the Cowboys will need to look for a trade down. Let's hope some of the QBs shoot up the draft board.

This is what I am afraid of. The Broncos need a CB and they pick in front of us. Farley might not get to us. If that happens then I think we should trade down if the trade is reasonable.

I agree with what you have written, but have a hard time believing that not 1 DE is taken in the top 10.

I don't think this is a dream scenario for Dallas. I think it's far more likely that Lance is available at 10 than it is that he's gone. A dream scenario is if Fields is available at 10. I also won't be very happy if Farley is gone.

If I were the Cowboys I'm hoping to have 1 of Sewell/Slater/Surtain Jr/Farley on the board to draft and 1 of the 4 QBs left.
If the trade up offer isn't significantly above trade chart value I take my OL/CB option left to me and the guy starts year 1.

If the trade down value is great I move down and it opens up my board to basically anyone as I have picks galore.
But Moehrig/Barmore/Nixon(I have been trained to love expolosive 3T shoot me)/Darrisaw would all interest me and of course any fallers.

I am thinking that the trade down needs to be in play. If Parsons, Surtain, and Farley are on the board at 10, I say we pick any of them at 10. If they off the board I say we trade down into the 15-20 range and hope to snag Horn. He is pretty much on Par with Farley and Surtain, but my one knock on him is that he is more of a press corner and I think we will be playing a lot of Cover 3 under Quinn. I am really hoping we have a shot at Parsons or one of CBs (I am partial to picking Parsons if he is available) at 10.

I do wonder if we will regret not taking Pitts if he is available at 10. I truly do think he is a once in a decade player and could be the next George Kittle or Travis Kelce (But Pitts is even more athletic). I know TE is really not a position of need for us, but when a potential HOF caliber player falls into your lap at 10 can you really pass? We have the picks in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th to stack defensive players so I could see how taking Pitts could be justified. If Surtain, Farley, and Parsons are off the board I would actually not be upset with taking Pitts instead of trading down.

Everyone (but them) keep saying the Jets want to move away from Sam, I don't think so. I think the Jets are the team that trades back and walks away with a ton of capitol. I think they will look to drop back 1-4 spots and hope to still land Sewell, another top OT or WR prospect would be their fall back option if Sewell is gone.
I actually think the Dolphins could be the team to move up for a QB (Wilson) and trade Tua. Not only them but, Atl, Philly, Det Car are all options to move up here. A bidding war could ensue and the Jets could be looking at a huge haul to only drop back a couple spots.

Maybe I'm wrong and everyone else is right on their speculating, time will tell.

I just really doubt that if Lance (or one of the other QBs) is there at 9, that either the Broncos don't draft him or they don't trade the pick themselves. Just seems very, very unlikely that Dallas gets the leverage of trading with a QB on the board.

I'm pretty much always on board with trading down.
The only issue is I need to see the short list of targets have enough depth to fall to where the trade down is to or an insane reward to punt that list.

Put another way is if targets at 10 draft day were (Sewell, Farley, Slater, Surtain Jr). I'd gladly fall 2 spots if 3 were still available.
But it gets scary if say 2 were available unless you know the team coming up wants one of your guys.
BUT if say SF wants to come up for a QB and is willing to part with 12 for Mac Jones? Pay me and lets go.

Also yea the elite prospect game gets tough.
I put less faith in projecting someone to the Hall of Fame than most anyone.
It's such a long term deal and such a best case scenario.

PFF for instance rated Baker Mayfield as a super elite. I never saw him as worth more than a top of R2 pick. Maturity, system and size were small concerns that added up to a legit pause for me.

But blue chip prospects have real value.
I don't want to fall below them unless the reward is also great.

Here in NY, the buzz regarding the Jets is they are taking calls on Darnold, not the other way around. They won't turn down a good deal if it presents itself, but more likely going to move back and trade the pick to a QB needy team.

75 percent chance that a defender will not be BPA at #10 overall.

1-Jax QB Lawrence Agree No Brainer
2-Jets I could see them going Sewell here to help out Darnold But Done be surprised if there is a mega trade. A QB will go here
3-Dolphins WR Smith
4-Falcons This will be a tough one but Matty is getting up there in age even though he is playing pretty good I wont be surprised if they make a trade down they are strapped in Cap and got some positions to fill either way I see a QB going here
5-Bengals TE Pitts they need to give their young QB some weapons
6-Eagles WR Chase they need a good WR
7-Lions If Lance or Wilson is there he is gone
8-Panthers This could be a Team that makes a move to 2nd takes a QB Waddle or Parsons will go here
9-Broncos If Parsons is here they will go after him If not Look For either Farley or Surtain to go here

10-CowboysCould take who is left Surtain or Farley

I don’t think the Falcons pass on Fields at 4. They want to rebuild. Matt Ryan is what every Cowboys fan fears Dak Prescott will become if we sign him long term. The guy has not won a meaningful game since 2016 NFCCG but signed a huge extension. The Miami Dolphins might like Smith but not at 3. They will trade down to a quarterback needy team. The Eagles might draft a quarterback. Detroit could draft a quarterback. Denver might draft a quarterback. I would not be surprised if 5 quarterbacks are gone by the time the Cowboys pick. Lance is the ultimate wild card. He could go top 5 or he might be there at pick 10. I think the Cowboys have a lottery ticket if they play their cards right at 10 if they consider drafting a quarterback.

I dont see the Eagles taking a QB they have Jalen Hurts'
If Fields is there when Atl picks they would be crazy to pass on him.
The best thing will be if 5 QBs do go before us.

Falcons could go in several directions, QB, LT or even CB. Miami is not going to get DeVonta Smith if they trade past 6, if they want him, they are going to have to use the 3rd pick to get him. All indications, Eagles are moving ahead with Hurts as their QB, that is going to be a WR/TE.

The Cowboys aren't in the QB discussion. They weren't involved in the trade for Stafford nor have even contacting Houston about Watson.

I would be shocked if they took an undersized corner for Quinn's scheme.

True but he’s a gamer. Samuel Jr. also ranked No. 26 and No. 14, respectively, the past two seasons in passes defended per game.
