He is a legit QB, but not an elite QB like he thinks he is, or you Dak fans think he is.

I think its safe to say that you arent qualified to be in any QB discussions.

Some of us nailed the fact he was a legit QB his rookie year while trolls like you were still claiming he was backup material, average, just a bus driver.

Read those two bolded posts ten times...then see how ridiculous you sound. If you understand, I'll give you an A.

We're not face to face?

You're only laughing at yourself for thinking you are the smartest person in your mind.

Russell Wilson won his super bowl with one of the top 10 best defenses of all time and a punishing running game. He is a great QB but he is not a huge upgrade over Dak. And it’s questionable that he is even an upgrade at all.

A lot wrong here.

No team is going to "over offer" to box the Cowboys in, but they'll do it because they don't have a quarterback. That's how free agency works at every position, in every sport. There is no chance Dak gets offers at less than "market." Crazy to think that.

It doesn't matter if they sign the tag or not. The Cowboys control if he accrues a season by using the tag. If Dak chooses to sit out - which would be beyond stupid - the Cowboys can just place the tag on him next year again. By opening the door for other teams, you're losing control of the price. Dallas, with the tag, sets the price at $38, and that's where negotiations start. Same thing they did last year at $31. When you go non-exclusive, you let some team - say San Fran or NE - offer $45 and Dallas now has no negotiating control. You're delusional if you think a team wouldn't do that.

There is just absolutely 0 upside to the non-exclusive. It results in having a more expensive quarterback or no quarterback.
And what negotiating control do they have now, or last year at this time? Dak would be signed the last 2 years if they had control. The NEFT actually gives them some measure of control - the ability to decide whether to accept draft capital or pay Dak what he's inked with another team. Applying the exclusive rights FT does nothing but fix the cost for 1 year, but put them in the same, actually worse, position next year. So the question is, which is better, cave and give what France is demanding, or let another team set the market for Dak and then decide what to do?

Just to be clear, I'm not a Dak hater. I don't get into the Dak vs. Wentz or Dak vs. anybody arguments. I have never been a Team Tank member - drafting QBs is a total crap shoot. And I think the team can win a Super Bowl with Dak with the right pieces (which is the same for any team) and some luck (injuries, ref calls, etc.). But I also think Dak isn't the only QB this team can win a Super Bowl with. I just think the quickest way to bring this deal to fruition is to go the NEFT.

We could get lucky and receive 2 first round picks for him. The Colts traded for Wentz so they're out of the running. The Saints don't have enough cap room. Maybe a team like the Panthers (8th pick), Jets (2nd pick), or Broncos (9th pick) sign him.
Good solution . Don’t think there are many offers for Dak however. No one seems to want to pay him 40 mil so far .

There are so many questions about Dak's ankle...

It would be sweet if JJ would stop drinking and spending his pocket cash trying to build this team... pay what the hell it may cost to get Wilson/Dalton, sign Dak so he can sit out this coming season and heal, get rid of the rich fools on defense (f' all yall)(swoop)...just a dream. Make fat boy do his job for once.

I know average to tier 3 QB talent when I see it.
Dak is another Jamie Winston waiting to happen.

To be fair to Dak, he doesn’t have ‘guts’ in the sense, that if the throw is tough, he takes the check-down. He is way more cautious with the ball. If he does start throwing though, he’s too slow making the reads, meaning his INTs will start going up. But he really hasn’t shown that trend.

Russell Wilson, unlike Dak, has shown an ability to make throws outside his first read. Guys like Goff and Dak are pretty much the same. Dak also drops off considerably from first to second read. And Dak again had or had the best or one of the best OL and RG in the league.

Wow. You are embarrassingly wrong on just about everything.

1) I don't hate Dak. I like him. He's a very solid QB that has consistently gotten better (prior to the injury).

My "hate" is for the QB market of stupidity that is consistently backfiring on teams. It has NOTHING to do with Dak. It ALL has to do with the SIZE of the QB contracts these days.

2) I HATED giving Romo the big contract. So you are wrong on that account too.

3) And prime Aikman was a 1st ballot hall of famer and a 3 time Superbowl winner. It's nonsense to even mention Aikman and Dak in the same sentence or to compare them.
Literally.................it's absurd nonsense.

Romo didn’t even get a big contract relative to the market. He got paid the highest contact in QB history for the Cowboys, not the league. He actually reworked his deal to make room to sign other players. The Jones came to him and further, his new contract weakened the power of Garrett and took play calling duties away from the latter.

Exactly what could Stephen or Jerry have done to call France's bluff? They can't hold a gun to his head so what was this big mechanism the Cowboys had that would have called France's bluff?
.
.

Have you NOT read what myself and others stated? The Non-Exclusive Tag - that mechanism allows the team to Tag a player while also seeing what other teams think his value is. And, the teams can’t just put some crazy offer out there - they know if they make an offer that matches or EXCEEDS the current teams, they’ll lose draft capital and/or a player to sign that player away. So, Jerry and Stephen could’ve used that to show Dak and T. France if his market value is what Dallas thinks OR what Team Dak thinks.

The tag lol
Right...that gives you control for 1 YEAR. The objective is to do a multi-year deal. Otherwise you're in the same position next year, except for something north of $50m. It's what the 'skins did and they ended up with NOTHING in return. If you're going to do the tag, the only thing that makes sense is the NEFT to ensure you get something in return.

Ok Fuzzy better hope 31 GM feels the same way when Prescott hits the FA market.

You aren't capable of nuance or complexity. Owners aren't monolithic. QB scarcity is real.

Name a QB under 30 to hit veteran free agency in the past decade better than Prescott.

Compare contract values in free agency to those signed outside of it in general.
