I think Dalton is gone unless he just wants to take less to stay in DFW. And maybe he's not a money guy.

Lots of young QB's with new teams this season and he'd be a good bridge QB and they're not going to be paying their QB 37.7M. If he hadn't played so much this season, I think the chances of keeping him would be greater but he's earned a shot at more money with another team.
You think so? I think he performed at a level worse than some would have expected coming out of Cincinatti. I expected better from him for sure. I am not sure I would even bring him in for a bridge. I would just go with my young guy and limit the playbook especially if I had a good oline or running game.

You expected better from a dude that was run off by Cincinnati? Are you nuts? Bro, go grab a Coke and a smoke, and return with a clear mind and fresh ideas.

Yes but thankfully we have a lot to go off of from Dak’s career and we don’t have to just evaluate him on a 4 game stretch and we know that just because the defense steps up doesn’t mean Dak will much like in 2019 when the defense stepped up several times including our win and in game against Philly and Wentz and the Eagles beat him to get in because we couldn’t score.

Dallas is a better team when Dak does less and the OLine and Zeke did more.
lol - so you aren't going to limit your view to his 4 (mostly 5) game stretch, but are going to limit it the stretch you choose from 2019 …. that's cherry picking at it's finest.

Are you really trying to argue that if the defense had given up fewer points in the games Dak played in 2020 that Dak couldn't have played well - that he only has the ability to play well when the defense plays poorly? Come on, that's a stretch.

We all know 2019 wasn't a good season - both Dak and the Cowboys were inconsistent. But are we going to limit our focus on the worst possible stretch to look at, and even then make it out as if the QB bears sole responsibility for all shortcomings? It's obviously a lot easier to make a point if you cherry pick the games you want to use as an example.

Dak didn't play well in that Philly loss, but does it matter that the defense stepping up in that game doesn't actually represent all games, or that Dak was banged up in that game? Does it matter that while he only completed 57% of his passes in that game, he completed 65% over the season? Does it matter that with Dak at QB the Cowboys beat Philly soundly earlier in the season, or that Dak and the Cowboys had a winning record over Philly the previous 3 seasons?

I'm also always curious about how winning is the key factor in judging Dak when the team does not do well, but is ignored as a factor in judging Dak when the team does do well. I'm wondering if Dak was a great talent in 2016, but a poor talent in 2020 - you know, like how Aaron Rodgers was a terrible QB in 2018, but a damn fine QB in 2020.

I did expect better. Cinn is a loser and has been for a long time. Cinn was going after Burrow so they had no reason to keep Dalton. That said he would have probably done better if he had a preseason as well.

Maybe. He took a job as a backup because dude was straight butt juice in Cinci. Sure, their team sucked, but look how much better Burrow made that team look. I think Andy performed adequately considering our OL is about as bad as Cinci’s and: 1) he didn’t die; 2) he eventually made us relatively competitive in a sucky division AS A BACKUP

Let me reiterate. If Jerry tags Dak at $37M, Dak would sign that in one second to make sure Jerry won’t pull the tag at a later date.

Dak can’t pass a physical. Dak can sign the tag and be guaranteed $37M even if he never plays a down next year, or ever. Who wouldn’t sign that?

Tell me when Dak can run, cut, throw and pass a physical. It isn’t before the draft.

Always been curious to me why Dak's stock actually increased in the eyes of many fans after he snapped his leg. He wasn't winning before the injury, didn't win the year before in the easiest division in football. Now we don't even know if he's damaged goods or not, but...lock him up!!!

Only with those who worship at the ‘church of Dak’ and current players who like Dak and want Dak to ‘get paid.’ These current players are demanding a) money and b) loyalty in case they get hurt. Dak and the players are all about money. Championship is about three priorities down.

And now I read that there might be a possibility that Big Ben could be a landing spot for Dallas if the Dakster does not stay with the team.

Not stock, empathy. Unknown as to how that injury will or will not affect him going forward and I am not saying lock him up. I would prefer the non-exclusive tag and let the market set his price and then explore the options of signing him or taking those 1st round picks.

Dak is here to stay because there is not a team in the NFL that will give two 1's for him. Maybe he can go to the CFL, bigger field for more passing yards.

What? You can't lift that. A baby elephant at birth weighs 264 pounds!
Didn't lift it, opened a can of Planters and left the room with the door open. However, I left to get a beer and it followed me in there instead so it became my drinking buddy and I painted it green. Figured I drink enough to start seeing little green elephants so why not start out that way and avoid the shame.

I think Gilbert can be Dalton's replacement for 1/4 the money. So no need to even think about Dalton.
