The WR group is the best we have and its got some depth. We can't afford Gallup but I doubt we get any trade offers worth more than the compensatory pick we would get for keeping him next year and letting him walk.
I bet a team like Jville would pony up a 2nd for him. They are void of wideouts altho they have 1 or 2 nice ones..they really need another weapon for Lawrence. He would fit in there perfectly. He's a good willing blocker too.

We spent a 1st round pick on CD and Amari is locked into a long term contract ...........which means Gallup has no future in Dallas. Trade him or he walks away next year and we get nothing but a compensatory pick.

Not necessarily. If they preferred Gallup to Amari they could cut or trade Amari with little in dead cap. Or they could possibly restructure Amari and use that money to pay Gallup. Personally I would try to trade him for a corner or safety.

I don't see how you go that. We just signed Amari to 100M deal with 60M guaranteed.

This is to continue the narrative that "Dak needs to take a pay cut so they can re-sign their own guys".
its real ask Watson how he felt they let Dhop go because they couldn't afford his 25mil new deal he was seeking..No money left for RW to have decent OL and his defense suffered some since LOB ie Cap casualty's.. Rogers would have loved a FA WR that improved the team over a backup qb he didnt want, also now they may have to let AJones go..its real..

Dak narratives, no,

These are NFL QB narratives as they make far more then their in a lot of cases better counterparts all over teams, dak and his QB counterparts who are clearly not better then say Aron Donald or other top player sat their positions but for sure no way they are worth Twice that of lets face it tier 2 qbs and lower. seriously, how is /was Goff worth twice as much as Donald, lMAO..they wised up. . Pay scales and this so called Market, need to change and i think its slowly going to hit a downward trend.

teams have already started this as they are trading or letting go of their prior mistakes yet you want jerry to make the same mistake..IO want dak here as player but not as the anchor that hurts the team more then he can help..

35 is top money for Daks skillset..im not moving if im Jerry...look around its the new reality..

I'm not for it, but they're going to have to trade him. He most likely won't be playing in a Cowboys uniform in 2021. No way they can extend him.
Yes, they can. Easily.

I have absolutely no idea why people keep telling themselves this.

I wasn't for trading him...

I am now.

I like Gallup a lot but i'd rather get something then nothing. WR is also becoming a dime a dozen position quickly.

I'm not giving him away but i'm fine with a trade at this point.

LOL. This is from the Cowboys website where fans ask insightful questions the the Cowboys's writers give uninsightful and pedestrian answers. Someone asked if the Cowboys should consider trading Gallup because he will be a free agent next year and the Cowboys will not be able to re-sign him.

Perhaps the Cowboys tweeted out this headline hoping to draw some interest for Gallup. Maybe someone will see this and think Gallup is on the market. I just don't see anyone giving up a 2nd round pick for Gallup. If Amari Cooper only drew offers of a 2nd round pick, except for Dallas, then who would give up a 2 for Gallup who is in the same contract situation Cooper was? If Gallup nets a 3rd round pick, I would be shocked.

Not entirely true. DHop being let go was personal before financial. D-Hop was under contract until 2022 and his base salary was damn near the same as what they ended up giving Johnson in the trade.

To me there's no difference between paying Dak 35 million or 40 million. ITs a 5 million different. 5 million isn't stopping me from signing anyone.

When I made a thread a few months ago about trading Gallup for a 1st & 3rd, I got ripped a new one.

Now people seemingly will take a 2nd??

What changed, except that it is closer to the draft? And Gallup proved himself for an entire season?

I wouldn't take less than a 1st & 3rd.

glad YOU think YOU are the one cuttings the checks or balancing the cap..it matters i see tams like NO jettison good players over 5mil cap hits..dont buy the hype IT MATTERS
dhop got personable because , and he was right, BILL was db tool and he saw other players getting OVERpaid and wanted a raise, got moved..still top 3 WR in the league..dudes beast and you keep him now Watson wants out, maybe watson should have gave back 8mil so they could keep dhop, bet he didnt rush to the FO and ask for that pay cut..now he wants out , laughable..

What Saints do with 5 million is one thing....but what the Cowboys do with 5 million is sign guys like Nolan Carroll and Cedric Thorton. So yeah....5 million is nothing. I won't lose any sleep over bargain bin shopping any 5 million dollar free agents that we've been getting.

All I'm saying is you can't blame Hopkins for getting traded because of Watson. That's the wrong narrative to go with because its simply not true based on reports out of Houston.

no dude, I'm saying they can draft a guy and pay him squat instead of trading for Gallup

I see now, since the article was about trading Gallup I interpreted your comment was about Gallup, not about a team getting a receiver in the draft.

Didn't catch the change of player talk you made.

But as far as that goes, Gallup is a NFL vet who's proven he can be productive. If it's strictly a matter of money, then yeah go with the rookie, but that's more of a risk, that's why teams might want a Gallup instead....

you won't get that but if you can get more than a 3rd (which is what you will get after 2021 as a compensatory pick if he leaves), then you have to at least weigh the option. If you only get offered a 3rd, then certainly you keep for 2021 & just take you comp pick.

you make a good point. ALOT will depend on what happens first and foremost with Dak. We won't be able to keep everyone. Here is an idea..would we dare tag Gallup in 2022? If we already have Dak under a deal, is that a viable option? Just a thought.
