Just draft a decent safety and then we can discuss moving R squared back to CB.

RR does not have the skillset to be a starting NFL CB. His future in the NFL, if he has one, is as a downhill player at S.

I really think you guys need to start analyzing the player and his skillset before making blanket statements.
ok omniscient one. I have. I watched alot of Tulsa games and live in Texas, so down here we tend to get some games of Tulsa. Seen him plenty. I'm no expert, nor are you, but the point is..whichever position he plays, lets leave him at 1 and see if the dude CAN play at all. Just saying its better to be good at 1 job than to be mediocre at 2. Truthful statement is none of us , even coaches, know what we have with him yet. We will find out in this camp in 2021. I am excited , upbeat and positive about him until he proves he doesn't belong.

one thing RR has to work on is his technique. He's all over the place. My guess is he knows it and he's been workin on that. Prolly why he didnt play..tho the only real way to get better is to get in game reps, experience.

I like him better at CB than Safety

With most of the secondary struggling would have been nice to throw him in to see how he does. Right now we know just about the same as when he was drafted.

So why are you not an NFL scout then, or a coach.
I was not analyzing him, just asking a question from an article. But glad you have us all figured out.

When I viewed his highlights last year I saw some issues in his game and every draft profile I have read, just about, projects him as an outside CB who has to overcome issues with technique. Some suggest a switch to safety, the position he played in high school. The point I made was why draft a guy who has to switch to safety when there were some solid safety prospects still on the board?

I took Robinson in some of my mock drafts, but mostly in the 7th round as a special teams player with potential to be a backup CB.

With Quinn being prone to running more zone it makes a lot of sense. Robinson fits the prototype of all of the tall 6’+ CB’s too and has the speed and tackling ability to come down hill and make plays.

They never should have moved him to safety. If they wanted a safety, they should have just drafted one. K'Von Wallace and L'Jarius Sneed were both available when they drafted Robinson. Sneed played a lot for the Chiefs while Robinson was rarely activated.

Sneed was a steal, plus they moved him to Corner. I don't think too many saw that coming.

Although, maybe we should have. He ran a 4.37 40 and had a vertical of 41". For reference, Byron Jones had a 44.5" vertical.

Sneed had 41 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 INT's, and 7 passes defended for the Chiefs. Probably the steal of the 2020 draft.

He went 138th, 15 picks after Reggie Robinson.

I wanted them to take Kenny Robinson, who went 152nd, 29 picks after Reggie.

Back to the topic, Reggie is a 4.4 guy with a 36" vertical, so not super explosive. He does seem like a Seahawks-type CB at 6'1" and 205; he played a ton of press at Tulsa. I like the two Tulsa CB's still there, Allie Green IV (6'3" 206) and Akayleb Evans (6'2" 190). Go back and watch the Tulsa-Oklahoma State game from 2020 and tell me if you don't come away impressed with their DBs.

I've been extremely intrigued with the Tulsa CB coach Aaron Fletcher (now at Missouri), who coached Reggie in 2019. I've talked to him some and heard him speak at some coaching conferences. He does a great job of teaching press and I think he'll end up being a NFL DB coach soon. If any of you guys are SEC fans, watch and see if you see some noticeable improved play from Missouri's Corners in 2021.

I wouldn't use a number one on a linebacker. I have my sights to take a linebacker in the second or third round targeting the Ohio State or LSU linebacker. Corner, defensive end or defensive tackle would be my target. I wanna see what Robinson can do at corner...

Move Reggie back to Corner immediately but still draft best CB available for competition & depth. Draft two safeties.

this is teh same crap they did with Byron Jones..just stupid. LEAVE THE KID SOMEWHERE and let him work his tail off and lets see what happens.STOP tinkering and get real.
They left him at safety and now are admitting that was a mistake.

He was a decent corner in college. I just would not count on him until he shows he has not been ruined.

Amazing what real coaching can do.....as opposed to what Jerry is comfortable with.

You may be right. Once they saw HaHa Clinbton-Dix was not a good player anymore, they may have felt the need to move him to safety just for numbers.
HA HA is out of the league btw...no one picked him up to my knowledge. That dude must be that bad.We tend to suck signing free agents as of late..wow.

BTW..how much do we know about Maurice Canady? He is still on our roster, the db we signed last offseason from the Ravens. He might end up saving our bacon depth wise this year.. I think he is pretty good from the research I been doing.

He played in only 22% of available defensive snaps for a very bad 2019 Jets team who couldn't wait to move on from the high-priced bust Trumaine Johnson.

You guys need to stop falling for Will McClay's "clever" free agent signings. He's batting something like .122 and you guys act like he's this next-level talent identifier.
