Excellent tribute to an overall deserving good guy.

Don’t worry about the Haters here. It’s pretty obvious by just reading for years on this board that they have never played organized sports and simply do not understand athletics or winning.

The simple fact is that Dak is good enough as our QB. But, there are 3 phases to the game we love. And, the Cowboys have been average to historically poor on defense for years.

QB’s such as Dak and Romo can only overcome so much.

This team will not have to worry about its QB for years to come... now... fix the defense...

Oh... and, Dak can hit all of the routes. Including the out...
Good to hear from another who understands.

After all that Dak's been through over the 5 years with the Cowboys, it's so good to see him finally get paid. Not only the dollars, but the respect.

He came as an unheralded 4th round pick out of Miss. St. At Mississippi St. after red shirting as a true freshman in 2011, he played in 12 games in 2012 in mop up duty.

In 2013 he took over when the starter went down and played in 11 games completing 156 of 267 passes for 1,940 yards with 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also ran for 829 yards on 134 carries with 13 touchdowns. He was the MVP of the 2013 Liberty Bowl with a 44-7 win over Rice.

In his first full season as the starter he led the team to a 10-2 regular season record and it's first #1 ranking in Bulldog Miss. St. history. He was named to the 2013 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll. He was Manning Award Player of the week 5 times, the SEC Offensive Player of the Week 3 times. 2014 Honorable Mention All-American. 2014 First Team All SEC by the AP.

He won the Conerly Trophy, was a finalist for the Maxwell Award, the Davey O'Brien Award, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm award, and the Manning Award.

He also finished eighth in the 2014 Heisman Trophy voting and received two first place votes. I could go on and on but you get the point. He was awesome.

To sum up his college career, Dak finished third in SEC history in total yards, and fourth in total touchdowns.

He holds 38 school records and was 2016 Senior Bowl Most Outstanding Player.

Final College stats - 734/1169 for 62% Cmp 9,376 Yds with 70 TD's and only 22 int's and a 146 Rtg. 536 rushing attempts for 2,521 yards and 41 TD's. He also caught 4 passes for 88 yrds and 3 TD's.

So after all of that he gets drafted by the Cowboys in the 4th rd after they failed to draft a couple QB's ahead of him. Seven QB's in total were drafted ahead of him.

He was 4th on the depth chart his rookie year but easily outplayed Showers and ended up the starter on day one after injuries to both Kellen Moore and Romo. The rest is history as he led the team to a 13-3 record and Rookie of the Year honors.

In his Cowboy career so far as a starter he's led the team to a 42-27 record. A team with questionable coaching throughout. A team with below average defense and special teams. A team with Jason Garrett as HC, Rod Marinelli as DC, Mike Nolan as DC, Richards as a defensive secondary coach.

His mother died of cancer in 2013 and he lost his brother last year to suicide.

He's been through so much all the while being the kind of man off the field that any parent would love their daughter to marry.

We've all seen his leadership on the field. He dives head first for TD's and first downs. He never gives up and goes down fighting till the end. His teammates say he's one of the best leaders they've ever played with and would break down walls to help him and the team win.

He played his first 4 years on his rookie contract. During that time and even including last year with the tag contract he rated the 28th QB in salary over that time.

Speaking of the tag last year, he didn't have to sign it and could've held out up until training camp without punishment. But not Dak. He wasn't going to let his teammates down. He knew that by participating in all the offseason program that he would be able to prove himself once the season started and earn a long term contract. He's been betting on himself from day 1. Before the ankle injury he was on pace to break Peyton Manning's single season passing yards.

A true testament to the player and man he was is when he suffered that hard to watch injury. The way his teammates rallied around him during that game and afterwards. And not just Cowboy players, but players through the league as they know what kind of a player and man he was.

Yet, after all of this, all the accolades, the 60% winning %, the 15 come from behind wins, the sacrifices he made not only on the field but off there is a very large group of CZ members who crap on him daily. They don't like being called haters, but the ones that crap on him every day, every thread and every post are indeed Haters. They disgust me and should be very ashamed of themselves.

Congrats to you Dak Prescott for not only getting what you deserve but also giving the TEAM a very friendly contract with a year 1 cap hit of only $22.5 mil. $33.2 mill 2nd year and $44.2 mil the 3rd year when the salary cap will have ballooned because of the TV contracts and the legalization of NFL betting.

Dak is a total stud that has earned every penny he has got.

This is a meaningless stats comparison. But thought I would add this to the already growing debate on After The Contract.

Other than maybe the Garrett debate, I dont think I have EVER seen a argument won so soundly and overwhelmingly by one side.

I stuck up for Romo like I do for Dak and it was never this easy with Romo. Romo was great, but would often throw the game losing or frustrating picks that Dak rarely throws.

According to most of these clowns, they would have let Manning walk and just started over. :lmao2::lmao2::lmao::lmao::lmao2::lmao2:

After 5 years of just looking at posts, there's no better reason to join than being able to ignore the 10-15 dudes who post the same nonsense all year long. And then like their posts with vpn protected alternate posts. The ratios on this website have always been hilarious! Lololol

Personally I like Dak for all the reasons you have stated. And I honestly didn't even blink when Romo got benched and ushered out. He like Dak is a replaceable QB.
QB's that take you to 8-8 are a dime a dozen.

Dak’s got flaws like every QB. Brady’s not mobile and never has been known as a mobile QB. He didn’t win a SB every year he played. Mahomes struggles when pressure is applied. Brady doesn’t as he’ll just throw it away. Mahomes didn’t win the SB this year because of his flaw. But all of those QB’s are great, including Dak, because of their leadership and skills. They all have an abundance of both. So no, I don’t look over his flaws, I look at the whole package. You just tell that to yourself to make yourself feel better. It’s really sad of you.
Brady Mahomes flaws yes but to mention them with Win nothing Dak just shows your twisted view of Dak. Pathetic that you believe Dak is even close to them. Keep telling yourself Dak is great unfortunately he isn’t and someday the truth will open your eyes and you will see Dak is a good QB no more no less after many more failures and chokes. No SB for Dak, book it.

Dak is close to them. I never said he was better than Brady, Manning, Rogers or Mahomes. But he’s up there with them. He’s led the NFL in passing the last 2 years so that shows you he can pass the ******* football. The fact YOU can’t see it is telling in your ability to understand NFL football and that you only understand ESPN talking heads. Oh, and either that you are @PAPPYDOG ‘s twin brother.

Yup, same criteria then for Aikman, he was a replaceable dime a dozen QB like Romo, Dak. Aikman had zero flaws, proved it after 1995 without a stacked defense (as he had during the SB run). Aikman won those SB's because unlike Dak, he played OL, RB, WR, TE, DL, LB, CB, S, special teams. He proved he didn't need Emmitt. The offense was all him. But Dak is a dime a dozen QB.

All those stats against the dregs. Dak is no more than good QB, you must think Jameis Winston is great too, sad your low football IQ can’t be helped.

Show us Aikman's stats and team wins after 1995 without a stacked defense. And his last 4 years (1997-2001), he never completed above 60% during a season.

truth^^ ASK Mahomes if a solid defense matters. I bet I know his answer, especially after the SB loss. This notion that somehow Dak and even Aikman to some degree was some Unicorn that could overcome horrible defense. Its simply not true. Even the greats need help. DEFENSE MATTERS.Sick of the implied Dak ridicule. Its stunningly ignorant and offensive at this point. Of COURSE HE NEEDS TO WIN! lol..but it doesnt diminish how good he is and has been. Give the man a DAMN DEFENSE! A better oline would be nice too btw. OH...and the coaching could be a bunch better. ESPECIALLY SITUATIONALLY.Rant over..sorry.

Go away with the Aikman broken record last I checked there are 3 SB wins, NFL was a lot different them you don’t understand that. If you take Dak over Troy you have lost your mind if you ever had one.

Jameis Winston is a far cry from being a top 5 QB...heck he isnt even to 15. Who was the Buc QB a few years ago that is out of football now? I cant recall. EVERYONE thought he was the next coming...then suddenly the wheels fell off like it did with Winston. QB is a big crap shoot. You better get it right when your drafting a QB High. We did one better, we drafted Romo's successor and got him in round 4 lol....just fell in our laps. HE IS ELITE. Maybe the best steal in a draft since Tom Brady. NOT SAYING he's TOM. Winston wont be in FB in 2-3 years.

lol. You go away with your Dak hate. As usual, Dak haters always bring up the phenom that was Aikman won those SB's with ZERO help. Yup, NFL was alot different then. Aikman didn't need #22 for his offense. He played RB. And his SB defenses were terrible, They never got stops, or turnovers, or gave the offense excellent field position. Aikman proved his greatness with all those playoff appearances after 1995. It was all him. At least my so called lost mind isn't delusional with Dak hate, as your pompous/arrogant/inflated ego.

Dak’s in his 5th year, not 26th. Wake up and pull your head out.
Your boy got signed now we will still have the same record. He just keeps us on First take a no competing for the 6th or 7th playoff spot. Forever mediocre.
Fear of getting an elite player is why we overpaid for Dak.
