I just read an article where Dez was saying that he is sure that he is a lock for the HOF because of all the TD's he has caught during his career.

"Nobody put up TD's the way I put up."

His numbers -- 7,506 career receiving yards and 77 total touchdowns -- aren't historically enough to lock him in ... but he is one of the freakiest players to ever play.

Dez tells us what he did in such a short time should be enough to get him in ... but he did admit he's probably not a first-ballot kind of guy at this point.

What you citizens think?

I think you just exposed yourself as someone who knows absolutely nothing about this sport if you think Dez has ANY CHANCE for the HOF.

Your Dak Prescott takes make so much more sense now.

As the Cowboys all-time leader in receiving TDs he has a slim chance at the Ring of Honor someday.

Hall of fame? :muttley:

Steve Smith has the 8th most receiving yards in NFL history... equivalent to 14 consecutive 1000 yard seasons. He also has more TDs than Dez at 81. He may never make the hall of fame

Torrey Holt is right behind him at 13,000 yards, has a super bowl ring, and will forever be remembered as a focal player in one of the most legendary offenses in NFL history. He has been eligible for a number of years now and hasn’t gotten close.

Anquan Boldin has 13,000 yards, made the super bowl with 2 different franchises, 82 career TDs, and has a ring. He’ll likely never make the hall of fame.

A couple UofM guys, Reggie Wayne and Andre Johnson have 14,000 yards and will likely make it before any of the aforementioned.

a lot of receivers have made the HoF in recent years and there’s a lot more that should. It’s an incredible logjam at the position, and Dez has something huge working against him that will prevent any consideration: his story. It’s why TO didn’t make it on his first ballet, and why Calvin Johnson made it despite only having a partial career. How people regarded these athletes and how they handled their careers is very impactful of their HoF chances.

And what the common person knows about Dez is he had issues early in his career on and off the field, got over them, became a dominant force for the Cowboys... and then got paid and disappeared completely.

That’s his legacy, and it’s not making the hall of fame.

He deserves it more than Romo and Jimmy? Jimmy was a five year flash that crashed and burned at Miami without an owner with a blank check.

I must say Jimmy J. was pretty awful for the most part in Miami. Love the guy but he wasn't good there. He hung on to some players there a little too long. Marino was way past his prime and he should have traded him when he got there and drafted a QB.But no way Dez should be in the hall.

You better not say that to Dez's face, he'll knock you out! lol
