They were much better in creating defensive turnovers. The secondary is in a rebuild, where Diggs/Wilson look to be long-term fits. They still need another starting corner and free safety. This is the yr to get it done with all the fa's we have.

But the Defense was much, much worse. Like historically bad, and the passing defense was second, only to Houston. We missed Jones badly.

I'm really surprised at this one for some reason.

I thought he would want to hang home with the family for a difference of a few million for a guy that has made a ton of money in his career.

Guess he still wants to start though and can't blame him.

From the Bears point of view....wow.

So, no guaranteed salary?

Or did it mean 7.5mil salary guaranteed with 7.5mil SB so 15 out of the 21.75mil is guaranteed?

I'm not a cap guru but I think that low 1st year salary is to lessen the cap hit (with SB spread over 3), and if any of the salaries were g'teed they would hit the cap?

So it's really a 2 year deal at around 7.5m/Year (he'll get most of those roster bonuses)

So for that, eh, honestly I'm probably okay letting him walk.

A couple of years ago the Cowboys had Byron Jones, Lewis, Awuzie and Brown at CB. Now they have Diggs and Brown and some cast-off from the Jets. In 2016, the Cowboys had the best offensive line in football, arguably. In a few short years it became a source of concern. The problem isn't drafting. They managed to build strengths through the draft. The problem is keeping those strengths while building others. It takes too long to build an entire team through the draft. Free agency is a tool to help with the rebuilding process and the Cowboys are one franchise the simply refuses to use it.

Now the Cowboys will be forced to use multiple draft picks to find STARTING caliber CBs because they could not re-sign the ones they had. In the meantime, the DL is weak, the OL is injured and aging, the RB is getting slow, and S remains the problem it has been for years. This is why other teams use free agency not just to fill the roster, but to fix holes in their roster.
You are wrong on all levels. The number 1 problem is ownership which leads to the number 2 problem which is coaching. This team has always had talent that was held back by coaching.

He's never been great in cold damp conditions, surprised the Bears wanted to sign him
