Some good discussion of CBs. Maybe a trade back for Horn is a possibility

It sounds like the GMs don’t think any of the corners are special and they believe Surtain is the safest pick. Of course Broaddus is pumping his number 1 cornerback, Horne. Quinn and the South Carolina coach connection. Interesting that if Surtain runs a 4.4 it really won’t mean much. Farley has lots of red flags but if he runs a 4.3 or lower he will be hard to pass up.

I read an article that in the absence of a combine the NFL is working with the universities to get true 40 times but it sure seems like some fast times so far this year.

Cavanaugh said he has Farley as the number 3 CB.

I watched this episode yesterday and Bryan speaks truth. Buyer beware on Farley. You gotta understand first of all what he is and what your getting. You are banking on his upside. With Surtain..hes a boring safe player that isnt a speed merchant , but has instincts and pro style technique for days. Jaycee Horn is the guy that is a real dawg..he will lock you down and be really aggressive. He tends to gamble. But has HUGE upside.

IMO..we can land a guy like Keith Taylor late to groom as a slot corner. He had a great senior bowl too.

No matter who they take that player will have to be taught new technique. Quinn teaches the kick-step and trail technique.

So that would keep Farley in the conversation.

I have been indecisive about what the Cowboys should do at 10. I would love a trade down to to 15 and get an extra 2nd if we think the corners and defensive players are not special. Maybe this draft is quantity over quality.

I'm thinking if you can get a potential pro bowl player you do it, they say Pitts is that guy. Otherwise trade back and add some picks. According to NFL grading system there are 12 year one quality starters and 37 more that should be starters within two years. If we could come away with three starters that would be a good draft and a trade back might get you four.

Pitts might be a pipe dream. I can’t see him getting by the Eagles. I don’t think the Cowboys would draft him. The offense is set. The draftnicks and fans need to get over it. I can’t see us drafting a receiver or offensive linemen after the moves we made in free agency. I think this might be an all defensive draft.

You may be right about the Eagles. In the case that they did pick Pitts they would trade Coop or Gallup to a WR needy team for a day two pick. Gallup might be too expensive to keep next year and that would be a way to get something for him.

I hear people and talking heads about Gallup leaving but I disagree. Jerry signs guys that perform and since the wide receiver market is not that crazy. I think we can bring Gallup back for a fair contract. Plus he really likes it in Dallas.

I would like that scenario the best. Coop, Gallup, and Lamb are a great trio and Dak has good chemistry with Gallup.

Actually I thought I heard BB say in this video that Horne wasn't his #1 CB? I don't think he actually said who it was, but I think he specifically said it wasn't Horne. The radio guy, (Jeff Wade I think?) said Horne was his #1,
I have said it before and I'll say it again, if they land a good, quality starter via free agency, I think they will take a shot at Farley as he has much more upside. But it they only land an ave starter, they will go Surtain as he's more pro ready and they will need him.
Hearing about the coaches connection Horne could be the wildcard, and may actually give you the best between these other 2. More upside and athletic ability than Surtain, but more pro ready and not as risky as Farley.

Once Farley works out, he will separate from the group. He may run under 4.3 range.

I think the Cowboys should pick Parsons, Collins or JOK in a small trade back. Draft a cornerback in the second. Stokes for example will have the same if not better speed and tape as those guys.

That caught my attention too. Two other things they said about horn were he just covered the best receiver whoever it was and earlier they were talking about Deion Sanders in that way. They also said Horn Blanketed Pitts.

The real question is with the absence of true quality at a position, does the evaluating get weighted too much?

This is not a great D draft so Farley, Surtain, Parsons and Barmore get higher status but in the end they're still left with that player.

On the other hand, at QB, WR and OL, it's a good draft and easier to get value at that position.

Do you want a B- CB or an A- OL?

And if that A TE makes it to 10, he's off the board. Anyone thinks Booger can pass on that, ain't been watching him close enough. And to be honest, I am intrigued by Pitts and what he could be in this offense but I don't think he makes it to 10 and might not even make it to 6.

If Stokes is at 44 and we havent drafted a cb yet or signed a legit guy I'm done with this season.
