This is a very dumb take on the subject of free agency. It is out of context and in some case, like "he last only 3 years" does not mean the signing was a complete failure. But that is not the argument here.
Let's see the list of 50 or 100 quality free agent signings, like Tom Brady to the Tampa Bay Bucs, for example.
Or let's see the 500 first round draft picks who never lived up to their draft position. The fact is signing players always brings a risk. I will not argue that some teams, there is always one, are willing to overpay for talent. I think the Cowboys did that when they signed Zeke, DLaw, Cooper, Jaylon Smith and now Dak. But who is suggesting the Cowboys throw money at washed up players or misfits? Signing free agents takes the same talent evaluation as drafting college guys, except free agents have a record of playing in the NFL and good evaluators can see where guys are in the wrong system or other problems like that. With free agents you have a better understanding of coachability, work ethic, desire to win, etc.
Signing an all-pro player at a particular position with a proven record doing things you want him to do for your team is a lower risk than drafting a guy who looked good against mediocre talent in college.
