Tom Landry was called old and it was said the game had passed him by.
B.S.!
That wasn't change, that was business as usual, the fifth time he had made such "sweeping" change."Dont expect anything to change"?!
Jerry fired Garrett. Spent millions on a new HC/staff both offensive/defensive.
That's more change in one season than Jerry's accomplished since '89.
and the future is they can live without sourpuss bad fans..we wont miss you and the team with the star and shiny uniforms will have future without you, it will be here and if not for Jerry no JImmy, get over it those 3 SBs are Jerrys he was the owner who bought the team and hired jimmy, try and erase that what culture canceling jerry accomplishments wont work but rights on time for the fans in here who dont post a lot disappear then come take shots at the team every chance they get , 100% negativity,,As a fan of the Cowboys for 50+ years. I treasure the memories of Tom Landry, Tex Schramm & Jimmy Johnson. They are the reason Jerry has been able to load his bank account the last 25 years without providing fans a winning product. The name Dallas Cowboys is the Amazon of football. No brag...Just facts. The product wins without winning.
So don't expect anything to change in the way the Cowboys FO do business. Why change when you don't have too.
After 20 consecutive years of winning. Tom Landry earned time to rebuild the Cowboys and he would have done exactly that. I'm not saying he would have matched Jimmy Johnson's results and it's true that what Jimmy did was fantastic. Even so, Tom Landry deserved better.
You're a liar or you just don't know what you are talking about. When Jerry purchased the team it was losing money. Go look it up. $140M is what he paid for the team(less than what Jerry just paid for Dak) which was the worst team in the NFL when the purchase was made. Tom Landry and Tex Schramm only won 2 SB in all their time with the Cowboys. Jerry eclipsed that SB wins record in just his first 6 years. Jerry was smart enough to hire his college buddy, Jimmy Johnson, so If you are crediting coach Johnson you have to credit Jerry too. Jerry made this the football empire it has become, worth almost $5B, Jerryworld and the HQ in Frisco are all the Jones family's doing... that's what gives this team its value. Ole dogs, Tex Schramm and Tom Landry didn't have anything to do with any of that or three SBs in the '90s.As a fan of the Cowboys for 50+ years. Been here since 1975 myselfI feel your pain. I am a little younger than you. Started my love for the Cowboys in 1977. I was just a little kid but I remember those years fondly. The early 90s to 96/97 was also a great time. That team was mean and nasty. Each year I become a little less interested. I am sure if Dallas was playing in a SB I would be right back into it. I just don’t see that coming. The culture is toxic here and the torch will soon be passed to Stephen who is much worse than Jerry. Cheap and zero charm. It’s going to be rough. Maybe I am wrong. We’ll see. Be well.

I think the fans would really turn on Jerry if we got really bad, like a couple of 4 and 12 seasons.
We have been just relevant enough to keep Jerry off the hot seat.
We had those 3 straight 5 and 11 seasons under Campo
Forced Jerry to hire a real coach in Parcells
then fired the defensive coordinator and most of the staff after 1yr people said that wouldn't happen, has let many of his pet players go ,,fans are ignorant and clueless when they want to stand pat on narrative's.."Dont expect anything to change"?!

Sure that was a factor, but he had to do somethingThe primary reason Jerry hired Parcells was to get public support on his side for the new stadium.
I'm 54, and I am too old to care anymore. Jerry slapped us all in the face for 13 years with Garrett and kicked us in the teeth each time he retained him.
Now he's spit in our face with Dak-who is Garrett 2.0.
It's his team. He can take them to the grave with him if he wants.
Three losing seasons after 20 consecutive years of drafting in the bottom third. As long as Jerry Jones carries the title of GM the phrase "results driven" is a tragic joke.NFL is a results driven. Curious how many years you think Tom earned to turn the team around? 5? 10? His last 3 years the team continued to age and became a bottom feeder. He had plenty of time to show improvement.
at some point this will stop...they have to start winning and competing for championships...not just the NFCE. most of us fans that are over 50 and remember Landry/Schramm/Johnson will not be around for another 25 years. if Stephen continues to do what Jerry does.....the money/ratings will dry up.
2 things lolAfter 20 consecutive years of winning. Tom Landry earned time to rebuild the Cowboys and he would have done exactly that. I'm not saying he would have matched Jimmy Johnson's results and it's true that what Jimmy did was fantastic. Even so, Tom Landry deserved better.
It was no secret that Landry was going to draft Troy Aikman. They already had Michael Irvin. Tom Landry was even working on a new defense. Landry had planned on staying two more seasons.
Tom Landry was called old and it was said the game had passed him by.
B.S.!
Half of what we still see today when we watch an NFL game was invented by Tom Landry. He would have changed the game before he let it pass him by.
Tom Landry was fired 6 years after the last time he led them to an NFC championship game.
How old is that hypocrite that calls himself a GM? When was the last time the Cowboy played in an NFC championship game?

The team spiraled down under Landry without a QB. He’d already taken Irvin in 88 and had Herschel. It’s very likely with Troy he would have turned it around. It is good to be the king? His team his rules.
So how many years do you think Tom deserved? The team sucked after Jimmy took over. However in year 2 he showed major improvement. Tom did not show any in 3 years and the team continued on a downward trend.
If Jethro hadn’t had the early success with Jimmy , he would have been ran out of town with the results he’s had since. What are you talking about? The Dallas Cowboys were not an expansion team in 1989. They had a history and players already on the team. To suggest Tom Landry and Schramm had nothing to do with the 1992 team is not rooted in reality. There were players on the 1992 team who were draft before Jerruh bought the team. Did Jerruh tell Tom Landry to draft the players before he bought the team ?
These players on the 1992 team were selected by Tom Landry and played on the 1992 team.
Michael Irvin - 1988
Ken Norton Junior - 1988
Mark Tuinei - Undrafted
Nate Newton - Undrafted
Bill Bates - Undrafted
Kevin Gogan - 1987
Chad Hennings - 1988
Jim Jeffcoat - 1983
Kelvin Martin - 1987
Now, this takes zero away from Jimmy Johnson. Most of the team he built for the super bowl run where his guys. He was an outstanding coach. He inherited a poor team, and built it into a super bowl champion. If Jerry didn't drink too much and fire his back to back super bowl winning coach, the Cowboys should have won more. Jerry gets less and less credit for the Jimmy super bowls as the years go on. Without Jimmy running things, Jerry hasn't done anything, save one season when Bumbling Switzer took Jimmy's team to the big game. Even Aikman said if Jimmy stayed they would have more super bowls in a great interview on the Darren Woodson show.
It's great that Jerry built a money machine, would be nice to add more Lombardi Trophies next to the stripper poles at the stadium, but it isn't going to happen since Jimmy left.
