Sewell, Slater & Farley are the 3 top prospect Dallas will have an opportunity to pick at 10. The tackles would be the BPA but if both are gone then Farley is the only defensive player worth taking.

THIS TEAM DOES NOT NEED ANOTHER SLOW CORNER TO GET BURNED REPEATEDLY AND SCREW UP THE ENTIRE DEFENSIVE SCHEME.

Farley > all other CBs

I will say if Sewell is there at #10 you take him

A few things. I like Farley, however, I'm heavily on team trade down. I think this is a great season to trade down and see what we get as a result. I think we improve our draft class from that. Secondly, I like Farley, but his back surgery has me concerned. As someone who's had back issues since 2010, I can tell you that back injuries are hard to heal depending on where the surgery on the back is. Your back is where a lot of your nerves are. This is why Romo struggled to stay healthy once his back issues began. Farley is going to be a rookie. So, that's not a good sign. Additionally, back injuries can impact things like speed because the pain from the back can hinder the mindset. So, I'd like Farley after a trade down (though I prefer Moehrig), however, my concerns are about his health with his back issues.

Problem is, I don't think Sewell will be there. I think he goes to the Detroit Lions (and I think Pitts goes to Cincy). I think this because the Lions just traded for a new QB, and their oline isn't good. I suspect they'll try to protect their investment. So, in that case, the Sewell point becomes moot. I think Slater might be there, but I'd prefer a trade down to help us accelerate fixing the defence. If we can't get good enough compensation, then Surtain becomes the pick at 10 for me.

I forgot to put that in there, but if those three prospects aren’t there then trade down!

Even if Farley is there, I'm trading down. Frankly, his back issues scare me. As I said, I've had back surgery. I still deal with back pain, and I'm 28. Back injuries seldom go away. It sounds like what he's had is similar to Romo from what I've read in another forum. If true, this is a significant problem. For me, as much as I like Farley, I really don't like what I'm reading about his issues. For my future mock drafts, Farley is off my board.

I think it’s overblown and it’s funny the teams that had info about this and are leaking closer to draft time.

I’ll take a CB who has bad back but can cover instead of healthy one that always going to get blown by and will always need safety help over top.

To me, I don't think we necessarily have to force the pick with him. There are other good choices at CB. For example, in round 3, we could get Adebo from Stanford or Ambry Thomas from Michigan. Both are good CBs. Personally, I'd prefer a safety round 1 like Moehrig. If we stay at 10 at decide CB, I think Surtain is the better option at this time. Additionally, the fact that the Cowboys have just had their 2nd meeting with Horn tells me that they're uncertain about Farley as well. I suspect that they might go Horn at 10 if they go CB. Still, I think trade down is the best option.

If they don't run below 4.4 it ruins the defensive scheme and creates a dead weight anchor.

I disagree with this. I think it's nice if a CB runs that quickly, but that doesn't have to be the case. One of the first things that must be done is to have better dline such as McNeil at 1T DT (which has been a massive need) who can push the pocket and trap the QB from stepping up. This forces the QB to have to get the ball out more quickly. Second, we need better S play which is what's been a huge need since 2004 (I was in 5th grade the last time we had quality safety play). Third, just because a CB doesn't run a 4.4 40 doesn't necessarily mean that the CB isn't going to succeed in matchups. For example, a physical CB would be helpful because he can knock a speedy WR well off his route. Additionally, the hips for a CB is important because he has to be able to quickly flip his hips to pursue the WR. Unfortunately for Farley, your back muscles control how well you're able to flip your hips to turn. So, yes, he may run quickly, but this is where my biggest concern about Farley's injury exists. He may not be able to turn as quickly because of his back. Additionally, Surtain posted an unofficial 40 time of 4.42 (https://247sports.com/college/alaba...es-in-first-pro-day-2021-NFL-Draft-162965144/). That's a good time. A tad over 4.4, but close enough. He also has a fully functioning back. Additionally, Jacyee Horn has an unofficial 40 time of 4.39 (https://247sports.com/Article/2021-...ina-Gamecocks-blazing-fast-40-time-162092528/). That's substantially below 4.4. Coincidentally, Horn can also return kicks, which makes him more versatile. This might be one of the reasons why the FO seems to like Horn. Additionally, Ambry Thomas (Michigan CB who I want in round 3 or 4) ran an unofficial 40 time of 4.43 (https://michigan.rivals.com/news/michigan-football-early-enrollee-bio-cb-ambry-thomas). So, again, right around that 4.4 you were talking about. Those are 3 CBs that have perfectly working backs that run just as quickly if not faster than Farley, as you suggest.

Read Slater tested out top 15 RAS since 1987 against over 1k tested in that time.
